THAT chant being sold online.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Good to see that another paper has picked up on it too.

Just read in the Telegraph that Citeh are concerned that Man U fans will direct racist chants towards Barndoor during the Manc derby.

<quote>
A United spokesman said: "These kind of chants have no place in the modern game and we will enforce the ground regulations, and also hope that the police enforce the law."
<end quote>

If only they took that attitide last Saturday and on various other occasions when the OT support directed their chant at Wenger.

Amazon sticking to their guns

Post by gunner4ever25 »

I added my support to this case, by emailing amazon with a complaint. However, i got the standard reply.

Dear Customer Thank you for writing to Amazon.co.uk with your concerns about one of the titles we list in our catalogue. Here at Amazon, we believe that people have the right to choose what they listen to. Our goal is to support freedom of expression and to provide customers with the broadest selection possible so they can find, discover, and buy any product they might be seeking. That selection includes products which some people, including employees of Amazon, may find distasteful or otherwise objectionable. However, Amazon believes it is censorship to make a product unavailable to our customers because we believe its message to be repugnant. Furthermore, because we strongly believe that the appropriate response to repugnant speech is not censorship, but more speech, we will continue to allow customers to express their views via our web site about the products we offer for sale. Stocking controversial content does not mean that Amazon.co.uk endorses the views held within. We value all feedback from our customers, and I thank you again for taking the time to send us your comments about this issue. We hope you will allow us to continue to serve you.

I have sent a response telling them i shall never use their site in the future and that they are just fuelling a vicious rumour, which is a disgrace.

I also contacted the FA and premier league who havent responded.

Got another reply from Amazon this morning after my follow-up e-mail yesterday telling them I was unhappy with their response:

Dear Mr *********,

Thank you for your email.

I appreciate the points you have raised, however, the details included in our recent correspondence accurately represent our stance on this issue.

I regret that we have not been able to address your concerns to your satisfaction. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any additional insight or action on this matter.

Regards

So there you have it, Amazon don't give a f*ck!! :roll:

I have now made a vow that due to their attitude on this matter, I will never purchase anything from that company again. I only hope that fellow gooners adopt the same policy, as the only way to get the attention of people like this is to hit them where it hurts - their pockets!! :roll: :lol: :wink:

Well done to everyone who's joined in so far and got things rolling. The more people who join in, the more we'll make happen. Together we really can make a difference. It is very much long overdue! :cheers:

I personally think we should take the stance that this item is slanderous and libellous and therefore illegal. It is also beyond the pale in terms of decency, in the same way racism is, as it makes light of one of the most heinous crimes any person could commit - sexual abuse of children.

A few other large companies are also stocking this sick rubbish:

Virgin France - It's quite unbelievable that the French arm of a company, which prides itself on its integrity could peddle such repugnant filth! Perhaps our French members (if there are any?) could deal with this?

http://www.virginmega.fr/musique/album/ ... ,page1.htm

iTunes - As I'm not a member of iTunes I can't find a link, though if you look at the bottom of the page on the right side on the Yahoo link you'll clearly see it is for sale on iTunes. I'm led to believe iTunes are one of the largest, if not the largest sellers of online downloads. With a bit of pressure we can get this vile crap taken off there as well!

Yahoo music - Yahoo are such a massive company that not much more needs to be said!

http://new.music.yahoo.com/fat-willy/al ... -188726609

Limewire - This download is only available to American customers. Perhaps our members across the pond could take action?

Newest article on the issue is here:

Went to Amazon yesterday and there were four reviews of the item. Today there are 46 and almost all are 1 star.

WELL DONE ALL YOU GOONER'S!! Well maybe something positive can come out of all this Anger and Frustration we have all been feeling...by us using the energy to make some Proper and Permanent Changes. :barscarf:

Good pieces in The Guardian ...and surprisingly in The Mirror :shock: !

After saturday's game I sat down and sent an e-mail to Manure's Customer Care Team asking them why they were still allowing this Disgusting and Vile (chant) behaviour to continue after so many complaints in previous years. Asking if Sir Alex Ferguson would be willing to ass comment on their fans loathesome behaviour (singing the chant) and about their lack of security citing Arsene wenger's lack of protection when sent to the stands, particularly as he (fergie) had complained about the lack of security at The Grove when manure played us in the 2007/08 season , all because a group of Gooner's had sung

"Are You Krusty In Disguise?"

They have replied concerning the chant, but not the lack of security for our manager.

I received a reply this morning:

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Dear Mr **********

Reference: MUFC v Arsenal, Old Trafford, Saturday 29th August

Thank you for your email regarding the offensive 'chant' aimed at the Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger at the above game.

Your concerns were logged in our Charter Complaint system and the details passed to the Club's Director of Communication, who responds as follows:

"There are many chants, of course, which opposing fans deem to be unpleasant and unnecessary, but on this occasion you are right to say that one of the songs which some supporters directed at Arsene Wenger was unacceptable.

Manchester United deplores the use of this disgusting chant. It will be raised as a matter of urgency with the next meeting of the Fans' Forum and with supporters' groups and the situation will be closely monitored the next time the two sides meet at Old Trafford."

We would like to thank you for taking the time to contact Manchester United with your comments and hope that between us, we can eradicate this kind of moronic behaviour going forward. It has no place in the game and we share your concerns.

Yours sincerely

Looks like even Lets Kick it Out have been forced to comment now. That really shows this is becoming big as they were clearly very reluctant to get involved or even acknowledge the issue. This is real progress:

This is great :barscarf:

At last - we have all played a part and that shows what you can achieve when you stand up and make your voice(s) heard....let's just hope the mancs/spuds....don't make their voices heard next time we play them, and if they do that the powers that be come down very hard on them

Well done everyone

Just sent my complaint to Amazon - mentioned I'd spent >£300 on their site this year (which sadly is true). Asked them to take off the file or close down my account.

MJF0402 wrote:Well done everyone for bringing this disgrace to the attention of everyone. I've been following the thread as closely as possible over the last 24 hours as the story has snowballed.

Actually had an interesting email exchange with a former colleague of mine today who has had commercial dealings with Amazon and their opinion was that Amazon will f**k anyone over to make a buck and couldn't give sh*t about the consequences.

Let's hope The Guardian's piece tomorrow provokes further coverage elsewhere.

Incidentally, in relation to the comment about the Amazon advertising we had previously, you'll notice that this has been removed. I had emailed Rob last night asking him to do this and he was able to get it done this evening. Wouldn't want to be associated with them all the while they are stocking such vile products.
was just going to comment on this after noticing it was gone, well done 8)

This is great stuff guys, it seems to be getting picked up by more of the media - some excellent articles linked on the last few pages & it seems that it's not just us who think this is bang out of order.

I'll sending out a few more e-mails tomorrow & chasing Amazon up over their quite frankly, apalling response. Keep up the good work!
