Adebayor's stamp

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

For those that haven't seen RVP's statement:

"I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's mindless and malicious stamp on me during today's match.

"We are both professional footballers and I know that the game is physical, I too have made hard and sometimes mis-timed challenges but never with the intention of hurting an opponent. He set out to hurt me today.

"I knew he was aiming for a collision because he changed the angle of his body to allow contact to be made. He moved backwards when his natural momentum would have taken him forward. I find that deeply disrespectful. He has shown a real lack of class today, to me and the fans.

"I do feel lucky that I have not suffered a greater injury. The contact was only centimetres from my eye. I have not received an apology from him, there were no words exchanged afterwards. He had his own agenda today and that is bad for football. It's bad for the game we all love.

"I want to make it clear that this has nothing to do with the result of today's match. We do not hide from that disappointment but I need to speak out about his behaviour."

Even Alan Hanson, who can barely ever say anything positive about Arsenal, last night said that he thought the statement was completely in order an d that what Greedy did was out of order.

If the FA don't act then you'll know there's a conspiracy against us this year.

The Football Association have confirmed that they will 'take a close look' at the two incidents involving Emmanuel Adebayor in Manchester City's 4-2 win over Arsenal.

City took a huge step in their bid to wrestle fourth spot from the Gunners and maybe even mount a title challenge when they overcame Arsene Wenger's men at Eastlands on Saturday.

However two incidents involving Adebayor made sure that the game will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Robin van Persie has accused Adebayor of a 'mindless and malicious' stamp after being caught in the face by the Togo international's boot.

Adebayor then went on to put City 3-1 up and proceeded to run the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the visiting supporters, nearly inciting a riot in the stands.

The 25-year-old was booked by referee Mark Clattenburg for the celebration and the player immediately apologised for his actions after the game but the FA have now revealed that they will carefully study both incidents.

In a similar incident Manchester United defender Gary Neville was suspended for two matches after he celebrated a late winner against Liverpool at Old Trafford in 2006 in front of the visiting Merseyside contingent.

Lets see if the FA have got some spine. should get a four match ban at least, 2 for stamping and 2 for inciting the fans

Wooaah! Van Persie may have put in a shit tackle but the FA don't understand the concept of retaliation, so Ade's stamp (for want of a better, less dramatic word) should, and probably will, be looked at.

By the way, I would have stamped on RvP too if that was Power League  (I also would have gone out of my way to celebrate in front of the opposition fans :D ) - but enough about me... Ade's a c**t, and I'm not! 8)
This aint fun, its a bad joke at the bad time.
Sorry that i have to say: F U C K Y O U
And u can ban me for this.

I really couldn't give a flying fuck about his "celebration" to be honest. I've never had a problem with players giving it back to the crowd. Why should we be allowed to say what we want and the target of our abuse just have to take it? Are we that sensitive?

But the stamp at RVP is a diferent matter. Yes RVP's tackle wasn't great but he made fuck all contact. Usually there would be an exchange of words, maybe a bit of shoving etc... But Greedywhore put the studs down on RVP's head, he could have blinded him... Now if that was me on the receiving end of a stamp like that the punches would be flying to be honest.

The FA have to do him for the stamp. But they probably will only do him for his "celebration".

Hope we slaughter them at home and he has a mare.
