It was always going to happen..

Sorry to start another thread on this incident but i have to get all my points across lol! Firstly i see myself as quite a placid, friendly and all together kind person, i very rarely see myself as a raging lunatic.. BUT!

On the 12th September 2009 i was pictured in my Arsenal shirt at the City Of Manchester stadium looking like an axe wielding psychopath murderer who had just completely blown his top, and this was all down to 1 man, Adebayor.

I was in the ground an hour before kick off, and Adebayor himself decided he'd like to come out and warm up a good 15 minutes before any of the other players, he also decided he'd warm up inside the Arsenal half quite possibly to create a reaction early doors. He then continued to warm up in the Arsenal half when the Arsenal players came out to warm up to i can only assume attract more attention. Then when the teams were lined up in position ready to kick off a certain Mr Adebayor was wondering around the ARSENAL end of the pitch which was completely disrespectful.

He started the game like a house on fire, and rattled me even more when he lunged in very late and naughty on Cesc, and on reflection looking at the still images Cesc was very very lucky to get away without any serious damage. The stamp on Van Persie wasnt visible from the stands but fits in with the make-up of his game. Every single corner in front of the Arsenal fans he was in the net shaking it getting attention.

When Ade scored, and it was inevitable that he would, there wasn't a feeling of anger, not even a feeling of frustration, i think the majority of fans felt like me, like it was always going to happen. Then, as i looked up, in amazement, Adebayor, was hurdling his teammates, with arms widespread, beaming smile, running at the traveling support, the mood very quickly changed, i found myself moving towards the front very early, venting fury at the striker who had spent so long winding the Arsenal fans up, i never threw nothing and i don't condone them actions BUT i do understand how ANGRY he made everyone. Adebayor then after the game had the front to sarcastically applaud the Arsenal fans, then "Apologise" on national television. He began the game with an agenda, it was always going to happen..

I'd also like the add the press's pathetic attempts at making Arsenal fans to be the antagonists by singing racial slurs at Adebayor is BOLLOCKS. Arsenal fans were singing He's 5ft4, He's 5ft4, We've got Arshavin, FUCK ADEBAYOR.

The Manchester City song for Adebayor is sung.. ADEBAYOR, ADEBAYOOOR, He's hung like and Elephant, and his wife is sore. I HATE that racist song and would never sing it, and he never reacted like that when the other 19 premier league clubs we played sung that song.

Its also bollocs that people have actually defended that ANIMAL. We bought him from nowhere, made him one of the most feared strikers in european football, he then spent a whole summer flirting with AC Milan and trying to manufacturer a move away from the club, his wages were significantly increased, he then spent the whole season moping around, being extremely lazy and giving nothing for the cause, the icing on the cake was the performances against United. Then to leave, disrespect Arsenal football club, the players, the fans, the management staff, absolutly everyone he deserves EVERY SINGLE BIT OF STICK HE GETS.

Fuck off Adebayor, throw the book at him BIG TIME

Exactly! nothing racial or overly insulting was sung en-masse that day and yet the media (and Ade) are suggesting there was.

It's bollocks.

He's 5ft4, He's 5ft4, We've got Arshavin, Fuck Adebayor... that was the song we kept repeating, and I reckon that's pretty tame considering!

Great post Wozza, it's funny how the press haven't picked up on the list of antagonising actions the Adebayor did to provoke Arsenal fans.

Yeah mate, entremely frustrating, although on Monday i did hear a member of the press who was being interviewed on talkshite radio explain all the going on with Adebayor, and match of the day 2 showed him wondering in the Arsenal half.

The press want to make US out to be bad, there so deluded they cant see the reasoning behind it and what really went on. He's the most spoilt little brat in football

Great post, wozza.

If there were any doubts about that *word censored* being out to cause trouble, you have just put those doubts to bed.

He's a disgusting individual. A child in a man's body. I hate him even more than Cashley.

Interesting words by Wenger...
"My thought is that Emmanuel Adebayor deserves to be charged for what he did," said Wenger, referring to a stamping incident and unnecessary goal celebration by the City striker.

"But I was surprised that there was such animosity in his attitude towards Arsenal because in a few years he will realise that Arsenal has been great for him.

"That is why I was deeply surprised and shocked
."

The Frenchman continued: "Only he can say if he will regret leaving.

"All I can say is that is life and professional football players move on.

"In life, the goal is to be objective enough in seeing who helped you and who didn't help you, who had a positive influence on you or not.

"You can sometimes be disappointed in the short term.

"But still I believe that when you take distance with the events, you always get to the right judgement.

"I think the longer distance will make Adebayor realise that Arsenal was a very positive influence in his life."
Personally, my views on Ade haven't changed since last summer. I felt that he just wasn't intelligent enough to make the right decisions, and that has caused him problems above anything else.

Of course it was down to Ade, but sometimes you have to make allowances for people of such low IQ and give them the benefit of the doubt.

That's what I wanted the fans to do last season, because booing him tipped him over the edge, and as a person of limited intelligence, he was never going to understand the reasons for it and certainly not how to rectify the situation.

But, I do think Wenger has to take a portion of the blame, too...

I don't understand why Wenger allowed Ade to coast through the season as he did (and still be picked!)... and I personally wonder what that says about our manager, as much as it does about Ade.

There should be enough respect or even fear for the manager that you wouldn't dare give anything but your best... I do wonder if Ade would have been allowed to coast for so long under Fergie, Mourinho or Graham. Somehow, I think not.

Hughes piss me off as well i couldnt believe it when i heard him say something along the lines of ... everybody should cut him (adecu*tbarndor) some slack because his had a very hard past 18mths...

The player he is referring to had one good season then whored himself around europe and was then trying to negotiate a 120k per week contract which resulted in him getting a pay rise to 80k and he then threw it back in the clubs face with many lazy and piss poor performances.

The crowd only properly got on his back after the CL Semi's when his effort and interest in arsenal was non-existant.

Have never liked hughes since his manure days and his spat with cesc, what a tosser

Manchester City Football Club MANUFACTURED the whole sorry day!

Plastering posters all around the away entrances and then allowing Adebayor to take centre stage. Hughes comes from the Ferguson school of wind ups and it smacked of just that.......a MASSIVE wind up.

Let it be known that on April 24th 2010 TROUBLE is likely to return and you may be able to protect Adebayor by leaving him at home, but Hughes needs to take some of the flak, in fact all of the flak should our former player not attend.

Great thread. Thanks for giving those that couldn't be there a real insight into what happened.

He deserves everything he gets from the FA, and fans .... Hopefully he has the balls to play at the Emirates.

Great way of putting it wozza, i tryed to get it off my chest on another thread buting reading the fall out of it in the press and other threads it still makes my blood boil.

I was to in manchester and the stadium on Saturday also sitting in the lower tier ( i was also pictured in mondays sun newspaper looking abit angry  ) and as you say i knew it was going to happen and i also knew he was going to give it to us, but after the first feelings of expecting it and being resigned to him scoring, the mood changed when i saw him running over to us.

As i said on a different thread i dont normally get really abusive at matches, i mean yeah i shout, swear and throw my arms around like a complete nutter.
i also normally slate 'fans' who act like animals at matches by throwing missiles and trying to invade the pitch, but when i saw the *word censored* coming towards us the utter fury and anger built up inside of me and i simply had to run down the stairs to the front, and i tell you the only i reason i didnt hurl something but abuse at the *word censored* is because i had nothing to hand.

What also pisses me off is the way people on here are saying 'get over it' and similar things, the only reason they can say that because they werent actually there and didnt see the *word censored* face when sitting there on his knee's
Plus the way the press say he got 'dog's abuse' in the last 18 months yeah he got abit of stick with jeering and muted boo's simply because of his behaviour and attitude towards the end of last season.

p.s sorry rant over

Great post AFCWozza and I do have sympathy for you and other gooners there. I imagine that a lot of people reacting in that manner wouldn't ordinarily do so but for the deliberate provication.

However, as there now seems to be a witch hunt for gooners at Man City that might have got angry with Ade's celebration  , I would suggest writing something similar in letter form and sending copies to Arsenal, the FA, Man City and Martin Samuels at the Mail. Just might help in case - upon seeing that photo - they decide to give you a banning order.

I sincerely hope it doesn't have to come to that, am im pretty sure it wont, but if it does i will fight it all the way and have more than enough in my locker to prove my innocence.

At the end of the whole situation Emmanuel Adebayor ALONE created this mess. Im not a racist, i didnt throw any objects, i didnt enter the field of play and i didnt start a fight. (i am guilty for having an angry looking face)

Looks like he's been banned for 3 games for the stamp on RVP, but this is the charge im most interested in as if football fans can be banned for life for there reaction how can a couple of football matches be enough for Ade who caused the whole saga

I hope it doesn't come down to banning orders for you and other gooners either, but according to what I read, the FA have asked Man City and Arsenal to identify fans that were amongst the pushing and shoving.

As we all know, the authorities don't necessarily have to be in the right to act draconianly and I worry that they will single out a few individuals to make an example of. Anyway, sending the letter wouldn't do any harm, that's for sure. Good luck.
