The Wonder of Who?? (1/10)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Football chants aren't supposed to be over elaborate.

streets of london was the song if there was to be an anthem
yeah I can see that a song about London's homeless sung by a Fulham fan would be an entirely relevant song for a ground that seems to be more and more inhabited by home counties stockbrokers and Japanese tourists.

anthems

Post by goonerboz »

how about something from oasis!!!

I know all the usual crap about mancs city connections but the boys bloody live in n london so we might as well use one of their songs.

they have had a couple of pretty decent anthems it would be an excuse to piss the mancs off and just about everyone knows songs like wonderwall from countless bloody weddings and drunken nights out. :x  :P

wasn't it a chant before it was a song?

In any case the Liverpool supporters only seem to sing in unison the chorus to YNWA.

I think it's better to have an anthem that is a chant, they're a football crowd not performing artists after all.

AT THE END OF THE DAY WE ARE STUCK WITH THE WONDER OF YOU IF WE LIKE IT OR NOT
Well no. As I've already pointed out, if people don't sing it and chant something else over the top of it in unison the club will get the message.

Like the Scousers in the 1989 Cup Final when they drowned out the national anthem with YNWA as a sign of regional solidarity in the wake of Hillsborough.

I'm from an era where the crowd was the most potent noise on matchday and didn't need the PA to tell you what 'your anthem' is.

("I'm from an era".....bit of an old fart response from a man of 29 but what the hell).
