We're in the middle of a game, there is a small push on a player, so the ref decides to stop the whole match and give the player an educational talk (you could see it in the nhl, when Almunia tried to get the ball off fat huddelstone). It frustrates the players and than the game becomes much more violent and difficult to the ref himself.
Yep ,I notice that from some of these refs -having a little chat over nothing.

Didn't see the Liverpool game live - but was watching the Arsenal game in a bar when 2 Liverpool fans who were sitting near me had a go at Eduardo for putting his foot in on the guy who made a two-footed challenge! I went beserk (I lost my rag - can you believe it!!) and tried to point out the danger of this two-ffoted lunge through the air. They weren't having any of it - and now I know why having seen the highlights and Kuyt's challenge. Even he admite he was a bit lucky to stay on.

I go agree with Smooth though - the guy seemed to ref the the sp**s game pretty well.

Glad I wasn't in the vicinity of Moyes on saturday though.

Usually I rate Clattenburg, but after watching the 'Pool game, thats one of the worst refereeing displays I've seen at any level.

Getting a yellow out and changing it to red when gerrard says.
Not sending Kuyt off for 2 footed lunge.
Not giving 2 stone wall penalty's for Everton..

I just dont know what he gets payed for after performing like that..

Our ref was shocking yesterday as well..Riley I think it was..terrible.

Clattenberg has to be the woarse referee to ever ref a premier league game ever some of his decisions on saturdays game Liverpool v Everton where an absolute joke. I can toatally understand David Moyes fustration after the game and he is one of the niceiest guys in football

Quite right - I mean, if you f**k up at home, the chances are that you're going to get punished - maybe even leading to a ban
