he was surely only in the team as he's lanky and at least looks like he can assist in clearing headers at set pieces. However we all know hes probably more of a liability as he constantly loses his man doesnt show strength or jump and is completely unaware of whats going on around him.

he is probably one of the few examples of a player getting worse the more he plays. when he arrived he looked potentially world class, and even after he came back from that injury. yet this season he has been shocking. he looks lazy careless and simply thick.

vs spurs he constantly gave the ball away, played his team mates into trouble when there was no need with careless, lazy, underhit passes and giving it to them when they were surrounded by oppo players, these wernt long passes either, just lay offs in midfield generally. when he was involved in offensive passes everyone was behind the man, so they had to check there runs causing the moves to breakdown.

the guy should be dropped staright away and not be seen again till he sorts himself out in the reserves. i dislike denilson immensely but he may even be an improvement. im not convinced by ramsey as he has no pace whatsoever from what ive seen, although hes young and theres ways round this.

song was outstanding, man of the match in my view, he concentarted and put palacios to shame. everyone craps on about palacios being brilliant but song was way superior the other day and if he played like that consistently would be world class.

back to diaby, i think the main problem is hes really stupid, pure and simple, which you can't do much about. His carelessness and lack of awareness, when passing and when trying to defend set plays evidence this im afraid.

Fianlly the myth of eduardo needs to be exercised soon. sure he had a horrific injury but what has the guy actually done in league matches or big games?

i said it beofre and i will say it again, diaby is the only player at arsenal who has not improved one bit since last season, still the same laid back attitude, still performs 1 time in 10 and the bottom line is that he will never be good enough for Arsenal.

after the game against the scousers i said Ramsey should eb starting ahead of him any day of the week! I just hope one of Ramsey/Rosicky/Nasri keep him out the team as he is the weak link in midfeild.

 I try to be positive but Diaby is fecking terrible.

I'm pretty sure he will lose his place when Nasri is up to match fitness.

He’s a liability in more then one sense!

Firstly and before a ball had been kicked in the new season he broke Nasri's leg!
Then in the league he scored a fantastic header which left the keeper stranded......sadly that Keeper was Almunia!
Almost did the same against AZ but clipped the bar.
Now I've really started to notice that when he does make a successful pass, which is around 1 in 3, it inevitably is a hospital ball or more often takes one or two extra touches which slows an attack down and generally loses possession. Not by being tackled but forgetting which leg has the ball and an inter leg flight ensues as to which the left tackles the right and both get tangled and lose out!

I can't blame anyone on here for saying stuff like Diaby is a liability, or he should be dropped. But what I would say is that yes, he is struggling (really badly) at the moment, but don't completely give up on him.

About this time last year lots of posters here were slagging Song off something terrible, at at the time he probably deserved it. I personally sat and watched him put in an awful shift in the Sunderland game, but he slowly started to turn it around to the point that you could see his confidence really growing by Feb/March, and he's not looked back since.

I believe Diaby has more talent than Song, he really needs to get his mind right. I've never seen a player so equally capable of the sublime quickly followed by the laughable as Diaby.

The point made by spudmasher about his intelligence or lack of may be the crux of it. If Wenger can find the key to him he would be a real asset, the guy has so much ability its silly.

There was a feature on him a few weeks back on sky sports. In relation to the og at utd, he was asked what he was actually trying to do, his answer was " i don't know"

Liverpool reserves in the CC and a full blown PL game against Spurs are 2 different things though, what happens if Ramsey don't cut it in the PL? everyone going to groan?

This is not me sticking up for Diaby, he was poor on Sat and has been poor for a while, it baffles me that he regualry plays 90 mins and Wenger always finds a place for him in the team but I'm not sure if Ramsey would be as people make him out to be at the moment, what happens then???

Our second best tackler this season in fairness to him and done ok this season

Felt he was fairly poor against Spurs, once or twice wish he hadn't pulled out wide when defending but pushed into centre of box. I'm a little surprised by the Song praise, he seemed to forget he is a dm and kept pushing forward, kept losing the ball and failing to get back till we were 3-0 up. Superb tackle but 60 or so minutes of dreadful

anytime diaby and eboue take the pitch in our 1st 11, i shit myself. any team with an intrest of winning the title, would have these 2 dumbwits anywhere near their 1st team. not usless players, just not arsenal standard, more like hull, wigan, stoke etc.

Our football is so amazing at times, everybody seems to know where everybody else is on the pitch and where the runs are. Because of this, Diaby sticks out like a sore thumb. Whenever a team plays the way we do there are always going to be players who just arent going to fit in. I wish the lad well but I dont feel he has much of a future at Arsenal. :(

Quite a few people have hit the Diaby nail on the head - he lacks the "football intelligence" to operate at the very top level.

He nearly always makes the wrong decision when he has possession and the quality of the players around him makes him look even worse. I just can't see what Diaby brings to the team (except injuring team-mates in training!).

Having said that - he clearly has got talent. Watch his goals last season against Newcastle & Villa (both away) where his movement and ball control show someone that could be a very good player. I think Diaby is a classic case of a promising young player that can't make the step up to the week-in week-out intensity of the Premier League; a couple of flashes will never be enough at a top club.

He will always remind me of the kid at school that could do 400 keepy-ups - but was shite once the match actually kicked off.
