Sadly sid I agree totally with you re vela :( :( :( For some unknown reason it appears, to me at least, that our little mexican is no longer in wengers plans and tbh that astounds me    Anytime I have seen the guy play he has shown that touch of class about him and I do believe 100% that if he was given a propre run of games that he would be a top player for us and would maybe even be a more valuable player than eduardo 8)

Well, I suppose that's good news.

Early reports ranged from 2 months to the entire season, so 6 weeks is about as good as can be expected! - assuming Arsenal are right this time, of course

I was quite hopeful after the six weeks thing...until they said he is returning to continue his treatment under the supervision of the Arsenal medical team..

 18 months then

Don't want to make light of it because I'm obviously gutted like everyone else about RVP's injury.  :(

However, one good thing might come out of this unfortunate incident... someone else will get a chance to take a free-kick!! We might even score from one again!!

we will see wont we.

Brazilian im not particularly bothered by your opinion as you dont actually seem to know anything about the realities of arsenal and are a bit clueless, like saying how they would win a treble, denilson being a good player, etc etc.

we will see how well eduardo does int he next 6 weeks, and one of us will be proved right. however i await the many excuses from your type to excuse his lack of impact.

now we must wait and see.

I suppose it depends how you assess his impact.

When an influential player is out, it's up to the TEAM to find a solution and I'm confident they'll do just that.

Eduardo, Nasri, Rosicky, Cesc and Arshavin is still a quite formidable attack, and I see no reason why Eduardo can't slot in nicely. He's a clever team player, and I'm confident that he'll link up well with those around him and I also expect Arshavin will step up a gear now he's the main man in attack.

It's never ideal to be without a player as good as Van Persie, but as long as the others stay fit (fat chance  ) then I see no reason why our season has to be derailed by this setback.

I just think some are focusing too hard on the negatives.... Eduardo, Rosicky, Nasri, Arshavin and Fabregas. Fuck me... that's still better/on par with what ManUre & Liverpool have most weeks, in my opinion!

The problem as I see it is not that there is a lack of quality but that all of our front men seem to be best suited to different systems. At the same time changing system will be a shame just as we were starting to get the best out of cesc/song.

anyone else remember in the 3rd round of the fa cup when we had burnley away a couple years ago and he put a shot wide and no one could believe he could have missed? give him 3 games and he will probably be putting them away for fun again. we all know he has class, ability, and natural talent, why is everyone so up in arms that a striker who has only just recently proven themselves as a number 9 is set to be replaced by an established, albeit rusty, proven international goalscorer?

with rosicky, nasri, arshavin, and fabregas all able to create vast numbers of golden chances, i seriously dont think this injury to van perise is going to affect results too badly. no one can deny he will be missed, but i dont see why people are all of a sudden flaying eddie like they do diaby, song and denilson!

you just know that had that ball fallen to RVP he would have launched into the upper tier with his laces....

see what i'm talking about? shitiness! :-P

now, seriously mate, when i say about the treble i know how unrealistic it is. i just come from a place where the philosophy is "be optimistic and act like everything is possible and can happen, 'cause otherwise it never will" or something like that. i do believe in our squad and i know we can achieve great things, even with our weaknesses (every team in the world has them, and not more than we do).

i just think that saying things like eduardo is not good enough proves that not only you know fuck all about football, you are also pessimistic to a level i never thought i would see. our goals this season came from 17 different players. we score from fucking everywhere. we score like we're having fun.

if vermaelen broke his leg and you said "we're fucked, silvestre isn't good enough", i'd be o.k. with it. same can be applied to alex song. had that happened, i'd even join you on the "wenger should've spent" caravan. but we lost a creative goalscorer, and i think we can cope with that.

pessimists have the advantage of never being upset by a surprise. optimists have the advantage of being happy people 90% of the time

Few would doubt his ability, but as I said earlier he can't string 3 games together without getting an injury, which usually rules him out for 3 or 4, and this was the case before he had his leg smashed.

Same thing applies with regards us cannabis smokers!! 8) And just like you 'optimists', the problem we face is the constant accusation that we're off our heads!!
