Agree in part, but as the holding defensive midfielder does he also have to take some responsibiltiy for our goals agsinst tally? I think he has improved massively and thought he was superb v the scum.
As I've said before, I always think its harsh that he is blamed as the whole team is set up to attack at every single opportunity, this philosophy means that its inevitable that we will concede. I am a big fan of Song and his improvement makes me think there is even more to come from him.
Surely he has to be accountable for something though? If his job is to defend whilst others go forward then he takes joint responsibiltiy with the back five when we concede?

If we dont score we look at the players in the side with that job, if we concede we look at the players that do that job. As long as its constructive then criticism is part of daily life. I would like more competiton for that place, that can only help?
I see what you are saying but its not as simple as saying that because a team doesn't score its the attackers fault and because a team concedes goals its the defences fault. What I am saying is that Song, by way way of his ability to get the ball back and then accurately get it to an attacking player is helping us in an attacking sense, even though he is a defensive player.

Exactly. Can't attack without the ball and don't need to defend if we can win the ball in midfield.

Our main defensive weaknesses this season have been from down the wings. This has been partly a result of the system we play, partly because Clichy has been in dubious form and partly because we dont have a "protect the lead" mentality. This has worked fine for us at home but it has led to a bit of naievity away from home e.g. when we went to middle eastlands.

But, I think the team has matured to the point where it is learning from its mistakes. Song especially.

Let's get something straight here, Song is doing an excellent essential job at the minute, whether he does as well or not against the likes of Utd is irrelevant, what is relevant is that we will have no one to fill that role when he goes to the African Cup of Nations. Then it won't matter who we are up against, there will be a huge void in that position, which was all too evident when he didn't start against Wolves.

we all must agree, however, that we haven't seen denilson playing on that role yet. he was better than song in the 4-4-2, and could be very effective as the defensive midfielder in our 4-3-3. doesn't matter how much you all hate him, truth is, you all hated song before this season and now everyone agrees that he does this job very well. denilson, however, was the league's top interceptor of passes and had excelent passing rate. doesn't matter if it's sideways (i don't think it is), but even if it is, the job of the DM is not to give the final ball.

let's just give the young brazilian a chance. he is coming back from injury and if he manages to get full fitness by january he may be the answer, and, since i'm a firm believer of denilson's quality (specially at intercepting passes), i think he can even fight to steal song's place at the starting XI.

you're all going to call me nuts and say he is not good enough, but then, last year you all said song was not good enough.

never been signed at "billong's appreciation society" but he improved himself, a lier who said the exact opposite
anyway
he has good balance between the midfield and defence zones
what he need to do is more deep passes, always side-pass absolutely useless
thinking what he was last season
thinking about flamini in his 1st season
impossible how a manager can do this
mr.Wenger created a football player from an alex song
how can he?
