my 1st away game....

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

never been to anfield, but my first away match was birmingham city.
We won and the atmosphere was amazing.

Haven't been to an away match in a while though, but now birmingham are back up I would like to re-visit their stadium, its been too many years!

The final replay in the series of FA Cup matches against Sheffield Wednesday, which was played at Leicester's Filbert Street, back in 1979. :barscarf:

As you all know, we of course won (2-0?) and went on to lift the Cup that year after a classic 3-2 victory against Man Utd - although I couldn't get a ticket for the Final itself!!

Last year's 4-4 was my first time at Anfield. I thought 'You'll Never Walk Alone' was pretty impressive before the kick off. But the Gooners gave as good as they got that night after that.

Am surprised some think the atmosphere was shit, though it might have been different that night with 8 goals scored. Also they bought on Ray Kennedy at half time and we held up cards, ours made a number 10 and theirs a 5.

We parked in a van rental place on the other side of Stanley Park for a fiver. There's plenty of free parking around but I wanted to be sure the car still had its wheels when I got back to it.

Missed out on tickets this year, but going to Burnley...

First away game was Liverpool V Arsenal back in 1985 on a school football trip. We had been to Pool v Manure and Manure v Pool the two previous years as my footy team was mostly Pool fans and Manure fans with only me and one other bloke the only Gooners. Didn't get to THOF until 1990/91 season when I lived in Laaahhhndon. Picked the right year to be over there! :barscarf:

Atmos at the Pool v Manure game in Anfield was incredible - as was the amount of full on punch ups all over the ground!!

Sorry to post in the wrong forum, but this seemed a decent place to ask if anyone's got spares for Liverpool?

First away game?

Like almost every Arsenal fan I knew living in a London NW or W postcode it was QPR.

But that don't really count. Although we did lose so perhaps it does count. My only memory of the game is an Arsenal player (Richardson?) breaking the QPR scoreboard, which was ridiculously low down just above the crossbar, with a real crap shot.

My first away game was at the scum 1978 - the lovely 5-0 win. It was my first game too, what an introduction eh?
I have been invited to Anfield for my first visit on the 13th with my mate who supports the victims - his firm have put us in a exec box and hotel.

spurs first league game of the 68/69 season. stood near the front of the paxton road. remember most of the arsenal fans being in the park lane, the spurs end. we won 2-1 an og and i think john radford got the second. totally hooked from then on. mind you they are not all like that, i've seen some pretty bad performances over the years.

My first away match was v WBA in the 70's. Me & my schoolmate took the National Express Coach and it cost #1.65 return! We won 2-0. Happy Days!
