Mousers going out?

I've heard the BBC are planning a minute's silence and a candel lighting ceremony. Thank God we're spared their bin dipping, thieving, thuggish, gate-storming, misery wallowing fans from the latter stages of the Champions League this year. Saying that, I bet according to the BBC and SKY, the UEFA cup will now become the most amazing trophy ever.

Hard luck, mate. And welcome back. 8)

Reports in the press that the Pool are 260 million in debt. Should Benitez now go? Amazing we are asking this question - he won the thing only a few years ago! :?

I'm completely the other way, in the Champions League I always want Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool out as soon as possible. I can't imagine sitting there wanting any of those sides to win.

Agreed on Manure and Chavs. Don't mind the Pool too much - wouldn't necesarily cheer them on but don't hate them like I do the chavs and the filth.

I didn't either but a bin dipper at my works has pushed me back towards hating them as much as anyone. He is so pathetic and childish about the club that you cannot ever have a serious conversation with him.
He was talking about how fantastic Benitez is blah blah blah etc etc. so I asked him how he justifies the fact that after buying 65 players in 5 years they still don't have a good first 11? He went mental claiming they are as good as anyone in europe. Apparently AW has bought more outright failures than Benitez
He really is pathetic about them. It's great fun winding him up

Freeview requires retuning on the 4th of December so that you can still recieve channel 5.

Pass this on to any Liverpool fans who want to see their team play in Europe after Christmas.

I Hate Hleb wrote:I know you've probably said it on here before but where do you stand with regards Benetiz? Do you think that unless things improve dramatically over the next few months, this should be his last season at the club? Or do you think he deserves even more time? And can you see yourselves ever winning the Premiership whilst the Spaniard and those two American clowns are still at the club? :?
In regards to Benitez I think he has done a tremendous job here and I would be happy for him to stay if the yanks sell up.

For example our record in Europe:

Graeme Souness:

1991/92 - UEFA Cup 4th round (lost to Genoa)

1992/93 - Cup Winners Cup 2nd round (lost to Spartak Moscow)

1993/94 - Not in Europe

Roy Evans:

1994/95 - Not in Europe

1995/96 - UEFA Cup 2nd round (lost to Brondby)

1996/97 - Cup Winners Cup semi final (lost to PSG)

1997/98 - UEFA Cup 2nd round (lost to Strasbourg)

Gerard Houllier:

1998/99 - UEFA Cup 2nd round (lost to Celta Vigo)

1999/00 - Not in Europe

2000/01 - WON UEFA CUP

2001/02 - Champions League Quarter Final (lost to Leverkusen)

2002/03 - UEFA Cup 5th round (lost to Celtic)

2003/04 - UEFA Cup 4th round (lost to Marseille)

Rafael Benitez:

2004/05 - WON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

2005/06 - Champions League 1st knockout phase (lost to Benfica)

2006/07 - Champions League Final (lost to AC Milan)

2007/08 - Champions League Semi Final (lost to Chelsea)

2008/09 - Champions League Quarter Final (lost to Chelsea)

2009/10 - Champions League Group Stage (knocked out by Fiorentina and Lyon)

That's a dramatic improvement we've made under Rafa and hopefully it continues. It's not his fault that all these injuries are occurring, it's just really bad luck I guess. We are not half the team we should be without Gerrard and Torres, these two have been out for so many vital games, and as for zonal marking, it's the right system,(unless you take Andy Gray as gospel)it's the players within the system that's not working at the moment. No. I can never see us winning the League with the two yanks in charge, I can however with new owners who are prepared to listen to Rafa and let him buy whoever he wants.

Oh, and i'm not looking towards our meeting with Arsenal at Anfield in a few weeks, if both teams play like they are now we'll get destroyed.

That was one of the worst things that happened to Rafa, winning the CL. Now alot of our fans have raised their expectations greatly when infact we are overachieving by finishing in the top 4 as Tottenham, Sunderland, Chelsea, Man City and United are easily outspending us in the transfer window.

In that case Arsene is doing tremendously well keeping us where we are. 8)

I know, he is. I believe that ourselves and Arsenal are overachieving whereas Chelsea and United are expected to be where they are at. Honestly it wouldn't bother me that much if Chelsea won the league this season, sure they are plastic, but if it stops the Mancs...

In relation to what we have spent in the transfer market I would agree we are actually over achieving to a certain extent. What other manager would have a team fighting for a top 4 place on our budget? I'm not happy about our lack of investment but we could so easily be mid table shite.

As far as trophies in the last few years though... deffo not over achieving.

I just cannot fathom the reasoning behind the scousers defending benitez :?
The guy has spent 250m+ and has a team that is dependent on maybe 3 players one of which has constant problems with both his hamstrings  Some scouse fans I know defend rafa's transfer performance by claiming a lot of players that he has bought and then sold he made a profit on but how the fcuk do you build a team by constantly changing the structure of it ? :? He bemoans the fact that he aint got enough money to spend but then blows 17m on a right back and if that aint bad enough the right back in question is as bad defensively as eboue  I think that if you handed benitez the keys to fort knox and told him that he could spend what he wanted he will still find a reason to complain and I am very much in the group that thinks that, given what the guy has spent/wasted, they have very much underacheived

Our scouse supporter argues that winning the champs lge has been a bad thing in that it has unrealistically raised expectations amongst their fans :o I would be of the opposite viewpoint.......I believe that rafa has lived on the back of that one success and has been allowed far more latitude than he is entitled to as a result. Lets be honest here they robbed that trophy (nothing unusual there then  ) and if it wasnt for hamann coming in at half time then they could have been trounced.

I also believe that the spaniard has escaped a shit load of flak cos their fans have concentrated their hate on the 2 yanks  Now I know that they have not been good for the club but people seem to forget that they were in dire financial straits before the yanks took them over. As it stands now the yanks are afraid to sack rafa for fear of outright rebellion even though at least one of them knows he should be replaced
