January Transfer Speculation Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

These are the current French U-21 strikers, expect any signing to be one of these: (and several are also African, which Wenger REALLY likes)!

Jirès Kembo Ekoko January 8, 1988 1988-01-08 (age 21) Rennes 12 3 v. Tunisia; 11 February 2009

Anthony Modeste April 14, 1988 (1988-04-14) (age 21) Angers 11 4 v. Spain; 14 February 2008

Karim Aït-Fana February 25, 1989 (1989-02-25) (age 20) Montpellier 2 1 v. Malta; 9 October 2009

Steeven Langil March 4, 1988 (1988-03-04) (age 21) Caen 2 0 v. Tunisia; 13 November 2009

Bakary Sako April 26, 1988 (1988-04-26) (age 21) Saint-Étienne 9 2 v. Tunisia; 11 February 2009

Djamel Bakar August 6, 1989 (1989-08-06) (age 20) Nancy 5 1 v. Slovenia; 5 September 2009

If anyone saw SoccerAM this morning, would agree Balotelli is needed in Jan! Not that its going to happen mind you. Also, Valencia weren't in the CL so David Villa is a goer!

I think that even if you've played some part in this season's Europa Cup - which Valencia have, I believe - then you won't be allowed to play in the Champion's League. So David Villa isn't 'a goer' for that competition, in the unlikely event that we were thinking of buying him.

Much as i would love us to buy Villa, i think there is absolutely no chance of it happening.. the guy practically touted himself to us pre Euros when we could have got him for a reasonable price and we just blanked him like he was a second rate dreamer wanting to play for us.
Wenger would never pay the super inflated price he is now, even if he could afford to, it would be like admitting he made a mistake when he originally ignored his come and get me hints..
I don't know who we will end up with but i would be shocked if we were looking beyond the £15m mark and i'd be surprised if we spend more than £10m, which doesn't leave us with a whole lot of quality to pick from..

Reading some of the interviews Wenger gave yesterday, it appears he is as reluctant as ever to buy someone, believing that what we have is good enough. :banghead:

The sad thing about it is, you know he couldn't possibly believe that and come the end of the season if we fail miserably again it could cost him his job...
So this all consuming goal to create more profit for the club has and will taint his footballing legacy, the laughable thing is the new manager will come in and spend all the money and more that Wenger has been stockpiling over the last few years and probably bring success..so Wengers tightness will have served no purpose but to cut his own throat...

Have noticed a few "rumour" threads sneaking in. Why not use this? Should we make it a sticky?

We probably should sticky it just to stop there being another 20 of them... We had one last December stickied. Fuck it - I'm stickying it.

Samis - keep your knickers on, son.
