Emirates Makes Me Sick

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Chelsea are shite most games, I went to the **** 3-0 this year, bang in the middle of the Matthew Harding Stand and it was nowhere near as good as our 3-0 win, generally they are completely silent, even for big games.

I understand what you're saying. It's understandable that the atmosphere is worse in the less glamour games, my only point is that i think it's WORST at our place! Probably though due to the fact that we haven't got an end as such like at most of the other grounds where all the more vocal fans can congregate.

Totally agree with that! The stadium designers totally ignored the fans, and obviously were preoccupied with designing their lovely club level

The stadium needed a North Bank... sadly, it'll never happen now :( :banghead:

:barscarf: :barscarf:

Seemed at the NLD that the whole of the "NB" was standing, I thought that had the beginnings of a real sort of vocal stand, I do think the club should try and make the whole of the NB Lower or maybe Upper as well a designated singing section - if you apply for tickets or something they'll tell you that is the vocal area?

Youre both right. We had an ideal opportunity to combine the fans who stood in the old North bank and Clock end and create a huge singing area. But that would have been too easy wouldnt it?

i only go to away games - much better atmosphere and a proper gooner day out

the Emirates is just another tourist / taking your family for a day out, no different going to London Zoo or Alton Towers

The club had the chance, very easy, to keep people togther, to keep the clock end at the clock end...but the club didn't want this, and engineered other things. Now they give small crumbs, and we should accept the club are making efforts.

No...the club have a limit. And the bar is set very low. And they will never go above that so everything they "give" will be blighted by their poor attitude.

It's simples if you dont like it dont go.

All the top teams have a large tourist following(if we didnt how many would go each week?) and we just have to put up with it.

We in block 11 were having a great time yesterday singing lots of songs and enjoying ourselves. It has taken a while but we are all getting to know eachother and the banta is begining to flow. I would say the atmosphere around where I sit is probably the best since I stood on the North Bank back in the early 80's.

If you only go to a few games a season doesnt that make you a touristy fan?

I've a lot of time for those who follow Arsenal away.

I used to in the 70s and 80s but now I can't find the time or the money and I only go to the home games. Point being that it's the home games which give Arsenal the much needed cash.

I'm not trying to suggest that only the home support is "the real support" but the Club have to get all the revenue from the home support they can and in that sense we are no different from Man U or Chelsea.

I think the atmosphere won't change until the ban on standing areas is lifted. That may seem remote right now but I reckon some time in the coming decade, the rules will be modified to allow a limited standing for season ticketed home support. That would up the capacity and totally change the atmosphere.
