I love Arsenal, I really do. Always have done. Always will do. Couldn't give a fuck if we were Premier League, Championship or League 1.

The problem I've had lately is that I still see Arsenal as a genuine title contender year in year out. Ever since the beginning of season 1998/99 really. The double year preceding didn't count as going into that year there was almost no sign of that on the horizon.

So this year began and even though all the signs from the 4 campaigns previously said otherwise I still had a reaction to every defeat or bad performance in the most negative way as if it was really going to affect our chances of topping the league come end game time in May.

This may have led to an overly harsh opinion on many of the players, the manager, the club as a whole.

As of the end of 90 minutes today it's over. We are a team challenging for, at best 3rd or 4th. And doing well, especially this year, to be making it.

So colour me Rose from now on. I'll not be critiquing the performances of the players brought in as they are not going to win the major trophies. I will merit them and judge them on the games against the mid to lower table sides. Against their equals if you will.

As long as we mount a challenge towards the upper echelons of the table, even as good as top 2 for half a season, I'm going to be happy. It's not like Arsenal have never been pushing mid table or higher before. And in them days the days of school, where bragging rights were everything, I managed to get through ok as an Arsenal fan.

So goodbye League title aspirations. But still, hello Arsenal.

It's not like I'd leave you high and dry.

And this has absolutely what to do with todays match?

That was my assesment on the season as a whole.

If you want to be a bad ass, rejoin the police Spudmasher.

As soon as we come up against quality opposition, we fail. It happened against Manure, Chelsea and now Manure again.
I think we'll still get a top four spot but we definitely will not win a trophy this season.

Oh well.......at least the loan is getting paid off nice and quickly, never mind the team. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
oh shut the fuck up with the gloating 'proved what a lot of us already believed to be the case'

we are good enough, and we could have won the league, or at least gone the whole way. it doesnt matter if weve lost against man u and chelsea, in the 08 season out of the top four mini league we finished first, but we finished 4th overall in the league. those games have no difference. stop being so over dramatic. its all the other games against the mid table and lower league sides that count.

this team is good enough to win the league if it wasnt for the stupid mistakes some players make from time to time which has ultimately cost us points.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha HA HA!!

It doesn't matter that we've lost against Man U and Chelsea???? That's the most I've laughed all week.

Er, it does matter because Man U have taken six points off us this season and barring a miracle Chelsea will do the same. That's 7 points more than them that we have to get over the remaining 36 matches. I think that matters my friend.

Whenever those 2 teams apply pressure to Arsenal we crumble - how are we going to land a trophy until we can outdo those two?? We haven't beaten either of them at the business end of the season since Patrick Vieira left in 2005 and what's worse is we haven't even run them close.

And - if we beat Porto we will almost certainly face one of these 2 in the 1/4 or semi final of the CL. Can anyone honestly see us beating either of them over 2 legs??

And as for your "it's the games against the mid-table and lower-league teams that count" - what about West Ham 2-2 after being 2-0 up? Or Sunderland 0-1? Or Burnley 1-1? Or Fulham 0-1? Or Stoke 1-2? Or Fulham 0-0? Or Sunderland 0-0? Or West Ham 0-0?

People are pissed off because the same mistakes keep happening over and over again and Arsene is starting to treat us like fools.

Negligent, incompetent management.
In any other business, Wenger would be sacked for failing to address the problems affecting his business. I cannot offer my support any longer to a man who constantly lies and who's sole purpose is to turn a financial profit for Arsenal rather than bring success in the form of trophies.

Wenger, the man who once took Arsenal to great heights and who seems hell bent on taking us back down again.
Denilson is as bad as David Hillier was and Almunia is the worst keeper I have ever seen at Arsenal in 40 years of watching them.
No excuses, Wenger has fucked up in a huge way year after year by not strengthening this team, we are fucked until he goes. I just pray he does the decent thing at the end of this season and walks away.

Spuddy, as a keeper of sorts yourself ( ) you will be well aware of the need for a keeper to have strong hands - the useless *word censored* that is almunia did not display strong hands today as he slapped the ball into his own net  A better keeper would have been positioned better and would have had stronger hands to push it over the bar when it was crossed in. Watch his positioning on 2 crosses that went across our 6 yd box before they ever scored - he has zero concept of positioning, angles or controlling his area

MM99 nobody here is gloating at having the gulf in quality exploited and highlighted as it was today so there is no point trying to pick a row with spuddy over what he said. The sad fact, a fact that you appear unwilling to accept, is that we are nowhere near as close to glory as arsene and his pr boys at the club will lead you to believe :( We have an absolutely shite keeper, a 35 year old back up at centre back, more wilting flowers in our midfield than there are in the dutch poppy fields and we have a 5ft 6" centre forward with our only redemption coming from a danish beanpole who thinks he is pele but his goals stats suggest his is more like that of a striker for a mid to bottom table club - oh and I havent forgotten usain bolt, our english wonderboy ( ), who yet again today showed that he has really mastered the skill of running full pelt at an opposing player only to then leave the fcuking ball behind him  :banghead:

Face it man we are at least 3-4 quality signings from winning anything again

I believe you should fuck off and support chelsea.

Denilson is clearly the best midfielder since Giles Grimandi.

Almunia's hands are safer then President Obama

Wenger is the greatest man, human, woman, tranny, sailor, baker, chief lynx deodrant maker since Herbert Myles Palmer Chapman

I'm disappointed. Very disappointed.

Remember how fucking low we all felt when ManUre made it 2-0 at the Grove in the CL last season?... well, I feel as low as that. Gutted. Pissed off. Resigned.

Shit fucking shit.

:( :(

PS - want to see Rooney's goal again, as it looked to me like Denilson's pursuit of him was fucking woeful, just like for Stoke's goal last Sunday.

:( :(
