SLAVIA - HAVE YOU EVER SEEN US PLAY THAT SHIT?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

funny how far we've come
during our cupwinnercup runs we'd played pretty much like that all the way2 the finals
except with less posession
down2 the '3' up front that was more to stifle than create
main difference being that wrighty would have taken the one chance that ade spurned

The people who have been 'giving it large' about they should of done it for the traveling fans are the ones who didn't go. I went and I'm not complaining. The facts are we got to Prague about 10am and go picked up at 18.30. So 8 1/2 hours on the piss and having fun in Prague. So the football was crap and it was freezing and pissing down. I think Le Boss is a god but i cant blame him for the weather.
So how do the people who went feel ?
Sorry we missed each other southampton, it wasn't through lack of trying

I agree that we all had a great time in Prague but the football really was as miserable as the weather.

I hope this performance isn't an indication of how we will perform when we travel north in the Premier league and the elements are against us.

Personally I think Wenger got it wrong and we should have gone all out for the win, but will I still be complaining if we win the group, probably not.

SORRY HIGHBURYJD, CAN'T AGREE WITH THAT. I DON'T THINK YOU CAN SAY THAT ADE 'SPURNED' THE CHANCE BECAUSE THAT IS UNFAIR. THE CROSS BY EBOUE HAD LITTLE PACE ON IT AND ALL THE POWER HAD TO BE GENERATED BY THE HEADER ITSELF. AT LEAST ADE HAD AN ATTEMPT ON TARGET, DESPITE ONLY BEING ON THE FIELD A FEW MINUTES. WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT THE OTHER PLAYERS THEN?

AS FOR WRIGHTY, HE WOULDN'T EVEN HAVE HAD THAT PARTICULAR CHANCE BECAUSE HE WAS HARDLY RENOWNED FOR HIS HEADING ABILITY!! SO I PRESUME YOU PROBABLY MEANT A CHANCE AS OPPOSED TO THAT CHANCE.

YOU'RE RIGHT TO SOME DEGREE WITH THE COMPARISON TO THE 1994 C.W.C. RUN FORMATION, BUT EVEN IN THAT WE HAD AS MANY ATTACKING DISPLAYS AS WE DID DEFENSIVE ONES.

It happens rarely, but every so often I wonder what goes through Wenger's mind. I couldn't understand his formation last night. I had little problem with his selection (I'd rather have seen Justin Hoyte than Song). However the formation was a joke. Why on earth was Diaby playing up front for the first hour? I feel so sorry for Eduardo - this man is an out and out goalscorer, but we keep seeing him wide on the left. Last week he played up front and scored two great goals. The Boss said that Eduardo needs confidence - he's not going to get it while playing out of position on the left.

On another note, the result last night could have disastrous consequences. A win last night would have secured a group win as Seville would have needed to beat us 4-0 to win the group, and that's not going to happen. However, we have a real chance of being beaten in Seville and that would lead to us finishing second. If you finish second in your group you will probably draw Real Madrid or Barcelona or AC Milan or Inter Milan. Remember a couple of years ago when Chelsea messed about to finish second? They drew Barcelona and got beaten. I know we would have to come up against the top sides at some point, but I'd rather it was later on.

Got to Prague at 5.00 pm Tuesday - got home about 8.00 tonight. All my damp and smelly togs are now in the washer 'cos there isn't a smoking ban over there - funny how quick you forget, eh?

Highlight - the Slavia v Gooners wheelchair fans' derby before and after the game. Lowlight - the way that the wheelchair fans were left out in the pouring rain pitchside for 2 hours. Shameful.

A lot of memories for me. Meeting up with so many of my mates again. Prague is a beautiful city, even in the pissing rain and freezing cold. A 3 course meal for 6 people and beer all afternoon for £80. The bubble-perm steward. Fireworks. The long rendition of 'Gentille Allouette' sang after the game - thanks guys, it made us all laugh. Being kept in for only 15 minutes after the final whistle. And being treated like human beings - not like animals - by the local cops.

The game? Forgetable. But we're through, and that's what's important. A bonus for those of us booked to go to Seville is that the game will mean something - not like the farce in Porto last year.

The trip? I wouldn't have missed it for anything....

A few years back if we had a few injurys to the team and had 4/5 replacements playing we usually lost away in the champons league but always said it was because of injurys, weather etc... But now we are strong enough to be able to rest players and go and get the point needed, i think had conditions been a bit diffrent we wpould have had all 3 points.

I just see all the good points from that game and look forward to Sevilla away, 3/4/5 years ago we would never have got away with resting key players.
