IT'S TIME FOR ACTION (NOT RED ACTION)
Don't quite get the point.
A good team with good players can mask bad tactics? Ok fair enough. Where did this good team come from? I Don't remember any of the old back 4 in that one.
I don't see how Wenger's tactics play no part in his success, yet when it isn't so bright and rosy, it is a major reason why the team is doing poorly.
We have lost so many great players over the last 5 years, for a variety of reasons. Alot of these players wanted to leave, others got old and others were deemed surplus to requirements. To replace players of the caliber of Henry, Pires, Ljungberg and Vieira is nigh on impossible (plus alot of other quality players like C***, Hleb, Flamini). Just remember how much money was spent on those players. Probably less than 25 million. It would take that just to replace one of them now. For whatever reason we aren't spending anything at the moment. Neither you or I know the reason for this. We can speculate that it is because Wenger's tight, but we just dont know. To still be where we are despite this, shows just how good a manager Wenger is and I find it disrespectful for anyone to start going on about how he should be sacked!

mate, if he is a very very poor tactician like you say and our defence was flamini, senderos, touré and eboué, how the fuck we got to the final and that was the best defence in the history of the champions league??? or you admit they were excellent players our you admit our defensive tactics were excellent. which one, mate?augie wrote:Bg, wenger is a very very poor tactician and make no mistake about it however what I said is that his tactics didnt cost us in paris 2006
OH! I KNOW! wenger is surely the luckiest manager alive

Taking Pires out in that final - I still find that hard to accept (to use Wenger's phrase
), however tacticaly anybody tries to explain that error to me....
Anyhoo...talking about taking some action tomorrow night...how about somebody gets up and starts singing "There's only one Arsene Wenger" and see how many others join him

Wenger does not do tactics or defending. He only ever believes that his team will score more goals than the other team.
As to the original subject...if we're say 2 down tomorrow night with 15 mins to go, I've got a feeling that someone somewhere in the ground will start something off anti-Wenger and this'll lead to a few scuffles.
Sid, I look forward to your post match thread confirming that you were that man!!

That's the first thing I will do if someone starts with the Wenger out chants. I hope other peoples actions are far stronger!skipper wrote:Taking Pires out in that final - I still find that hard to accept (to use Wenger's phrase), however tacticaly anybody tries to explain that error to me....

That's happening already, Eboue, not so much anti-Wengerism, but arguments and in-fighting amongst our fans.Eboue-Why? wrote:Wenger does not do tactics or defending. He only ever believes that his team will score more goals than the other team.

So, you'd be happy to win the CL this season, then continue our downward spiral (which has happened because of lack of investment, lack of success, departure of better players, which isn't reinvested in players, leading to a further lack of success, departure of more players, etc, etc, etc)Vlad III wrote:Yeah! Absolutely pointless! I know for sure I wouldn't gain any enjoyment from it and quite frankly it would get in the way of my negative agenda!
Pointless!
Winning the CL would be fucking amazing, but I'd rather be challenging for the league every year rather than turning into a nothing club like Villa or Forest going "we won the CL once......."...... Didn't Clough stay at Forest for about 15 years after winning the European Cup winning fuck all in the progress, but remaining "untouchable"?
haven't been here for a while...
Wow, been busy lately so haven't been reading the forum so all this is quite a surpirse. It's like the doomers, gloomers and haters have taken over and are showing no mercy to the prisoners!!
Guys, unless the league table is upside down I don't think we are heading to the Championship! Are we relegated yet? Are we out of the CL? Are we going to qualify to next year's CL? THE F*CK WE'RE THIRD AND YOU GIRLS ARE CRYING, DEMANDING TO SACK WENGER!!!!! ON WHAT F*CKING PLANET DO YOU LIVE ON?!? Why the f*ckin panic all of a sudden, you remind of chavs supporters!!!
You need to step back a second and look at the big picture. You need stop deluding yourslef in thinking you know better... cos, really you know f*ck all...
It's hard for everyone at the club. Get behind the boys and do your job: support, knock a few back and sing...
GO GUNNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The table has a false gap below us.
Liverpool couldn't buy a win a few weeks back, dropping points to even the very worst teams in the league (Portsmouth!!)
Spurs have been uncharacteristically shaky
Villa haven't been as good as they were a year ago, but are starting to improve.
Man City were utter shit under Hughes (one of the shittiest, overrated managers ever). They've improved since Mancini took over, and will probably improve more in the summer when he waves his Platinum Mastercard at the World's top clubs.
In any other season, dropping 10 points in four weeks would be a crisis. I can take losing to Man U and Chelsea, but not when it's such a comprehensive defeat (even in the wilderness years since we last won the league, we've never been given hidings like that regularly).
I'm certainly no "shit tinter" normally, but the way we gave up against Chelsea from the first minute was the final straw for me. We've been screaming for a striker, defensive midfielder and keeper for two years; not addressing these issues is negligence.

What a coincedence that Martin Keown was working with the defence at the time! Why the hell didnt we keep him as defensive coach!?brazilianGOONER wrote:sorry aguie, i'm pretty sure that by that time you'd have agreed that he is not a poor tactician (or whatever it's named). the invincibles were tactically very good.augie wrote:Vlad III wrote:Are the posts on here genuinely supposed to be funny?
How can you possibly say he is so tactically inept he will never win it? He got us to the final, where we had a bloody good go with 10 men and were it not for Henry missing that chance and a better replacement keeper, we would have won. So please do explain to me how tactics were the reason we lost? Strangely enough, I seem to remember him being tactically good enough to beat Real Madrid and Juventus on the way there.
I would also like to know, how you can see into the future and categorically state he will never win it? He got to within less than 45 minutes of winning it with us, is it really that big of an impossibility he could go to Real Madrid and win it? I don't think so, but please do tell me why this is beyond his capability.
Vlad he got very close to winning it with a bloody good team and good teams and good players will sometimes mask poor tactics regardless of what club or manager you are talking about. I am not for one second saying we lost that game cos of wenger's tactics so try not to tar me with that brush cos my statement is a more general response to your claiming that his tactics defeated madrid and juve
you don't win only with good players. i watched a lot of matches of that real madrid team with ronaldo, roberto carlos, beckham, figo, zidane, raul... and watched them get fucked in the buttocks by small spanish teams with average players but very well set up defences.... like ours in 2006(which was, by the way, flamini as left back, SENDEROS, touré and EBOUÉ - you don't think they are good players now, do you?).
