Honestly, has tonight’s results changed your mind at all?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not sure if I have said it before the worst thing that could have happened to us was the 1st game of the season against Everton. I think that made up Arsene's mind that we were/are good enough to win the league with what we have got and there was no need to strengthen. We seem to have an easier run of games than the other two so it is technically possible but realistically no. Unfortunately :barscarf: :(

No, not at all, both teams looked exactly what they are. Also rans scrapping for 3rd or 4th place. The first half was pretty dire and altho we improved in the 2nd there's no way that performance will give the mancs or chavs any sleepless nights

Why would one game at home to an under par Liverpool change anyones thinking, any one who takes one game to formulate an opinion must be a bit of a simpleton..most of us base our judgements on the evidence of months if not seasons of information.

We are what we are, we are good at brushing aside the mid level sides and the poor sides, we struggle against the decent sides or lesser teams that can raise their game against us and we can't compete with the quality sides.
Whether we finish first, second, third, fourth or fifth all that will still be the case, we need to improve and new personnel is what is needed to bring that improvement and until the manager gets that in to his head we will be reliant on the sides around us fucking up.. as opposed to being better than them....

rigsby wrote:Liverpool beat United this year, they're hardly the worst Liverpool in memory. I swear some people are pessimistic for the hell of it, tbh we don't know if we'll win all 12, but lets remember '98. 10 game winning streak to steal the league after being 18 behind.
Lets fucking win it!

In all fairness mate that team had real character and backbone not to mention some "worldies" as well 8) This team has shown a distinct lack of backbone and belief when facing the likes of the mancs and chavs so comparing these two sides does nothing favourable for the current team.

Anyway unsurprisingly I havent changed my mind as I still believe that we will finish 4th or maybe 3rd. It isnt just about us going on a 12 match unbeaten run cos we actually need to win the vast majority of those games not just avoid losing them. It shouldnt also be forgotten that we need two teams in front of us to screw up not just one of them so realistically we are long shots for the title. I actually think that not being considered as challengers would suit this team more anyway cos everytime they have been written off they sneek back in again only to start losing again when everybody starts talking them up  As brad childress (minnesota vikings) said after a great play off win lately, "this week we will talk quietly" meaning that we will keep a low profile and hope to sneak in under the radar 8)

Start of the season I said anywhere between third and sixth. I'll stick with that.

But I also said we'd win the Champion League.

So I'll stick with that as well  :barscarf:

CL is all about the draw - we could win it without facing a Prem team

PL is about the away games
we really should win the rest of our home games
(although I worry a little about ManShitty and Greedybarndoor)

Stoke, Brum + Blackburn can all be a handful at home
I hope we can steamroll Hull and Wigan
anything can happen in the derby

Chavski and ManUSA have got harder fixtures than us virtually every weekend

I'm a little bit more optimistic that we might finish 4th now if that's what you mean

I love the "why not?" speech from The Goon though.

Does he really want a list of printable reasons as to why not......
