Gilles Sunu

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A few years ago when Wenger said that two of our 13/14 year olds had 'nothing left to learn technically', one was Wilshere and the other one was Afobe. He's one worth watching. Sunu is not.

Gilles Sunu made his Derby debut v Swansea and made an impressive debut comparable to an Arsenal first teamer.

The sub who was subbed...

What ever happened to giving a young player at least a chance  We used to have a young lad called Andrew Cole...............
Yes but for every 1 Andrew Cole there has been at least a dozen Lupoli, Aliadiere, Simpson, Bothroyd, Quincy, Caballero types who flatter to deceive at youth level.

I've seen glimpses of Sunu - didn't think he was all that.

Remember that Kevin Campbell scored over 60 goals in the youth team one season and ended up unable to hit a cow's arse with a banjo

Not in one season bud, perhaps over a 6 year period which is about 6 goals a season.

Pretty shit for a striker eh?

So did Adebayor but that doesn't mean your a great striker.

Campbell always hammered the ball.
Often with no effect. Either going wide, over & saved for example. Most of the goals he'd scored either deflected of a shin or foot. The others were straight and low at the keeper most of them were so powerful that they were either side of the keepers legs or went through.
He didn't seem to have the techinque or ability to place a ball.
To a certain degree Campbell was a lucky striker.

So yes he scored a load but he was miles from Wright or Henry!

No truth! Campbell was a great lump but a shit striker. I remind myself when I re-watch the vids of how fortunate each of his goals were.
What it doesn't tell you, but I remembered, was how many he missed.
