Sol's Influence

He's been a great influence, especially off the pitch. He commands respect and I think he's very important in the dressing room; someone of his experience was needed at this crucial period of the season. Wenger truly pulled off a masterstroke by re-signing him.

Sol's passion for the club is incredible as well, especially considering where he came from.

I was personally delighted when he re-signed as i felt we badly lacked a title run-in hardened person both in the dressing room and on the training ground, even if he wasnt going to play too many games. The fact he is getting games and playing reasonably well is a bonus. For the same reasons i would have been pleased if PV4 had came back, even to play at centre half if required. Cesc is no doubt a great player, but i dont think he is a great leader of men - yet.

I cannot help but think of the reaction of the boys after Aaron got done against Stoke compared to the reaction and subsequent league collapse when Eddie got done 2 years ago. I think it has a lot to do with Sol somehow...

I think a lot a people are recognising the very positive impact of Sol on the team. He looks a little slow but there is no doubting that he is positionally more aware a lot of the team and again on Saturday it was good to see him bossing the defence telling the likes of Eboue and Clichy where to go. For me what this proves is that with a little more experience in the team ie players of Sol's calibre (in all positions) this team could have perhaps had a better chance of winning something this season. I am sure others will disagree!

I think Sol has strengthened the side mentally, however I also think his performances are getting dodgier with each passing game, he is becoming something of a liability and wouldn't be surprised to see him sent off and give away a penalty before too long.

I can't help but think that if Sir Alex Ferguson took a gamble on Sol it would have been deemed a master-stroke.

You think he would play ahead of ferdinand and vidic
Don't get me wrong Sol has done ok, but is starting to look every one of those 35 years.

I know Campbell isn't the player he was in his first spell with us but he isn't 'over-the-hill' like people say. i think his presence is proving vital. I'll never forget how after beating Stoke City at the Brittania Stadium, the game in which Aaron Ramsey had his leg broken, the whole entire Arsenal team had a post-match huddle. The orchestrator? Sol Campbell.

Who gives a shit about sol's pace, he knows where to be and can read the game which makes up for his lack of pace.

I was very sceptical about us re-signing him, but he's been a revelation.

This is the season when Man U signing Owen was "the" big transfer gamble story, but he's been a massive flop compared with Sol.

Can you really compare them both though? Owen was out with a career threatening injury for lenthy spells at Newcastle. This i'd say was a huge gamble.

Sol is just someone who is a very good defender but has reached the age where he isn't performing at the level he was in his first stint at Arsenal. He had shit team mates at Pompey but he's always been a solid defender. I don't really see it as a gamble.

Can you imagine Silvestere having to play all these games? Sol is head and shoulders above him.

Sol is still a decent defender, albeit not our first choice and not to the level he once was...but he can do a job against most teams in the league so it was the correct decision to bring him in. I like the fact he gets so pumped up when we score / win...did you see how mad he went when Almunia saved the pen? love it!

The man must pinch himself every morning of what has happenned to him, and we are reaping the rewards.

Wouldnt mind seeing Gallas back soon, but BFS has been a lovely little signing.

I think he has proven to be a positive influence on the squad as a whole.
AW was right to sign him, there can be no doubt about that.
Going forward though, we do need to sign a top quality CB during the close season.

is it me or does it look like cesscy looks up to Sol. IMO Cesc has become a better captain since Sol returned. He has learnt, and is learning more all the time, from Campbell just being at the club. I also think when kolo was here he benefited a lot from Sol.
