Im sick of England

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I wouldn't worry about that, EU free trade laws will prevent anything resembling a quota on European players.
That's right so long as there isn't a political deal to create an exemption for football/sport. At the moment, artists are covered by exemptions of that sort, so it's ok for example for the French government to put minimum quotas on French radio stations for playing French-language music.

My worry is that, however irrationally, a nightmare axis of Platini, Gordon Brown and underachieving English players will combine to create the impetus for an EU level deal to allow quotas even on players from other EU countries.

That's a great attitude there Charlie - Even tho you fought on the beaches to prevent a foreign invasion, you now are welcoming these invaders to our shores. :D :D

Of course it's worth these people remembering:

1986 World Cup - Quarter Finals: 2 Arsenal players in the squad, one in the starting line up at left back, none from champions Liverpool.

2006 World Cup - Quarter Finals: 3 Arsenal players in squad, one in starting line up at left back, five from chamions Chelsea.

Now now, we all remember how brilliant England were before the Prem, I mean Germany and co are in awe of our record! Awe!

I would have thought out failure this time was in part due to the manager trying to appease the press (he did have some good idea's and does not deserve the abuse he gets just for not being up to the job), Carragher flouncing off due to his being rubbish on the ball, a bad youth system that is the laughing stock of the world, the idiotic fans and press, the pressure, the English mentality, the lack of cutting edge outside of Beckham, injuries to Owen, our "cover" being fairly poor, tactical inflexibility from the players, the inability to finding a bleeping white shirt by Gerrard on Weds.

Or it is all these rubbish players like Cesc's fault. How dare he show up our brave lads!

We all know Wenger only buys good players you just need to look at his record....the sad fact is there arent any decent English players around to buy, and if there was he would have bought them.
Its just the blame culture we live in, and trying to find someone/something to blame.
The question is..why isnt there any decent English player (apart from Theo and Justin) about??...sadly i think we are just not as good as we think we are on a national team level, but our clubs always do so well in Europe.
Anyway...enough of this international bollocks
we are top of the leaque
we are top of the leaguw

we are top pof the league
we are top of the league
