Good point. This is true I think, and the subject of many previous discussions.tinpot lane wrote:I said this on the main thread last night. The amount of goals we gift to the opposition is ridiculous. Nearly every big game we handicap ourselves with idiotic mistakes. Well people may say in most of our games we have been convincingly outplayed by the top sides, and yes i would agree to a certain extent. But ask yourselves do you remember any side scoring a 'screamer or well work goal' against us. Where you could say that player error weren't at fault?
Man United away earlier in the season. Gifted two goals.
United at home this season.
Liverpool away.
Chelsea away.
Birmingham away.
Barca at home. Destroyed for the first 20 mins, manage to keep it 0-0. Beginning of the second half we gift them the lead.
Last night.
I'm sure they're many more...
I remember maybe an obscure one, where we played Man City away. We were in complete charge, then after 30 minutes, clichy makes an error and man city score from their first chance of the game.
This really deserves to be looked at, and asked questions about.

If rumours are to be believed (the Sorenson bid in Jan, the 'chest infection', Amy Lawrence on arseblog saying Wenger had lost faith in Almunia after the Chelsea home game but couldn't find replacement), then I think we are maybe seeing the back of Al this summer (god willing). Even the stats that Wenger loves don't support him.
How many times have I seen Gallas, Sol and Sagna shot him death stares this season? I can't believe Wenger is completely blind on this issue. Last night he said "Almunia didn't see it" which seemed like a thinly veiled criticism.

They're both Spanish as well, hmmm, think we maybe onto something here.the playing mantis wrote:maybe cesc is bumming average al.....if AW drops him gets rid of him cesc will follow......

Just kidding. If anything I would think Below-Average Al staying might just do it for Cesc before he decides to pack his bags and leave.
