Will Arsene's project work?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The wage bill is already excessive, so we will have to unload players in order to buy. Who would you release from the squad, and who would you keep as a useful back up squad member?

I would release the Spanish waiter and Flappy (buy a new No.1 and then have Szczesny and Mannone), Sylvestre, Eduardo and Vela. Beyond that, possibly Denilson and Rosicky. I would want Diaby and Walcott as squad players, though neither is yet good enough and I have real doubts whether either ever will be. For me, they have one more year to prove themselves, and if no improvement out next year. Sol must stay for another year.

That leaves up to 7 spaces for new players. New keeper and Chamakh are near certainties. 1 new central defender (or 2 if Djourou is not thought to be up to standard), 1 defensive midfielder, a proper winger, and cover for Cesc/Ramsey would be my choices.

Over to you Arsene.

Wenger's project will never ever work, because he has developed generation of players with inferiority complex when it comes to teams such as ManUre and Chavsky.

Last 12 months are proof of that.

SAMMY, YOU ARE RIGHT!

But I don't think the russian mafia boss is the only one who thinks the only MAJOR trophies are the Champions and Premier Leagues. How else do we get Portsmouth getting into two finals. Utd and Arsenal always put out weakened sides for these competitions.

So if Chelsea don't win at Anfield on Sunday there is a real chance that they'll have gone 4 years without a MAJOR trophy, having never won the CL and last winning the PL in 2006.
