I think David Dein did all the negotiating and contracts and wenger just gave him a list in those days? correct me if i'm wrong anyoneBring Back Pires wrote:All on the last day of the transfer window, naturally.Meds wrote: I'm not looking forward to this summer at all, we will be linked with every Tom Dick and Harry and at then end we will lose 3 or 4 players and Sign Chamakh and 1 or 2 for the "future"
Which is one of my greatest hates about AW at the moment - he's so fucking indecisive. Whether it's bringing in Arshavin or Chamakh, thinking about penning a new contract, wondering whether or not to offer Sol Campbell another year, having a think over bringing back Vieira... FFS, just make some fucking decisions and stop drawing everything out over months and months. By the time AA23 finally arrived in January 2009 (or was it February), I was more pleased that the case had finally been closed than I was that we'd actually signed a decent player.
What happened to the AW of old, the one who ruthlessly snatched Sol from the y**s, and brought in Henry and the rest? He didn't seem to loiter around when it was time to decide whether or not to move stadiums.
So basically, grow some balls and start making some fucking decisions. And stop flaffing around like an old woman. It's tiresome.

To be fair the stakes are different this season. We now have money to spend where we likely didn't before. Wenger is coming into the last year of his deal and knows this is it for gooners who have remained loyal throughout. It's now or never. Either he wins something this coming season or he goes next summer IMO. I think he'll sign players.

Yeah, I think he'll sign, too.
He's looked gutted and shocked after some of our recent results.
I think he's realised that he's overestimated the prospects of the young players and needs some steel in the team.
I admire his loyalty to the young uns, though.
We've also been shown to be shallow in squad depth this season (un-bloody-believable run with injuries, though).
But, a new keeper, CB and Falmini-type midfielder and I'll be very confident next season (as usual
)
And Chamakh looks like a done deal.
He could be a great signing for us.
