Wenger talking to 'definite transfer targets'

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wouldn't we all. What we'll get will be a keeper from Burkina Faso's 3rd division, Sol signing up for another year, Chamakh on a freebie and a load of bollocks about how much the younger players will have improved over the last 12 months. This cynical supporter simply doesn't believe any of the nonsense being peddled by the club anymore.

It's all a load of Ballacks...

We have Chamakh plus one if we are lucky.

selling adebayor, a lazy fucker who was a major force in disrupting the squad unity for a lot of money is not an offense to "keeping the squad the together", quite the opposite.

the unproven player you mention is a belgium international who was captain of ajax. and he is quite good, in my opinion. he was unproven to us, wenger knew about his quality.

i do understand if you feel that letting touré go was a mistake, even though i think his career is in downhill, and probably sol campbell had better performances than kolo would.

so yes, i think wenger kept his word. the mistakes he made were others, like considering silvestre a squad player, which he is not, and considering almunia and flappy up to the task, which they are not. he should have bought 2-3 players last summer, not the 1-2 he promissed. he didn't fool us, he simply underestimate the injuries we would have. and that was foolish.

Arsene Wenger has continually told lies for the past few years. Possibly to cover up the boards lies about money or possibly to cover up his own shortcomings or even a combination of the two? Many Gooners have always said that if he came out with the truth, we could handle a few years in the doldrums. But no, lie after lie. Now with the latest statements it sounds like we're just as likely as ever to go through the summer, signing the minimum that he can and any that he does sign are likely to be French or African, the usual cheap'ish, un-spectacular average kind of player that we already have in abundance. My respect diminishes year on year for the guy, he has to do a hell of a lot to turn that, and the club around.

Amazes me that the official club web site can show an article one day saying Wenger is talking to several people/players? saying he wants his targets tied up before world cup, then next day saying he will definately sign only one player, who is on a free the next day????????????

I hate to say it but Wengers time is up. Can no longer be entrusted with the future of our great club.

Nottingham Forest fans believed in Brian Clough to long and looked what happened!!!

Stopped paying any attention to what Wenger says publicly on these matters ages ago. There’s always gonna be reasons why he’s not gonna come out & say he’s after player x,y,z etc. Ultimately he should be judged on what he actually does/doesn’t do. If he does nothing or not enough (again) then fair enough he’ll deserve the stick & then some, but on the one hand you’ve got people complaining about how Wenger “liesâ€
