3rd........better than 4th.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don 't live in London anymore NBB, so couldn't take you up on your offer, as you weren't offering expenses  I've never called in to a radio show either, knowing full well that sensible and reasonable calls very rarely make it on, especially when there are people prepared to give a headline, re=iterating a point without the full picture, just to provoke.

You wouldn't do that, would you eh?

 :D

North Bank Bren - Ignorant and blinkered. The Arsenal Black Scarf Protest is not having a go at Wenger or the team. It's a protest about the commercialisation of the club and the fact that the Football side of the business is now secondary to other interests.

Why do you keep saying that we are booing the players, as we're not. You *word censored*.

Its strange, it's being used as a way to belittle other fans.

We shouldn't have dropped 11 points to Spurs, Blackburn, Wigan and City. If we had won all those, we would have still had a chance of winning the league today.

We basically lost those games because of negligent defending and goalkeeping.
It hasn't been a great season, no.

But all this black scarf, boo the team is a disgrace.

We're a postion and a point better off than last year after selling almost £50mill worth of player and spending sod all.

Its an improvement on last year.

No it isn't !!!!!!!! Get real !!!!!

Is exiting from the CL one round earlier an improvement ? :?

Were the domestic Cups an improvement ?

Ok let's assume you are correct.

Tell me/us what next season will constitute an improvement in over all terms ?

And then we'll see if it happens

You cant really judge how far we get in the champs league as a sign of improving Its more the luck of the draw.

Agreed. There's no obvious improvement or decline - we lost to the first top class team we played in the CL this season (Barca) and ditto the season before that (ManUre) suggesting we're amongst the best of the teams on our level (i.e. top 4 contenders) but falter almost every time against the cream of the crop.

Yes, that's the pisser.
We have fallen further behind Man u and Chelski this year and that's unacceptable.

We should not be rolling over for the big boys like we have been.
And when we do lose (it's footy after all) we should be going down fighting - not bending over with our pants round our ankles.

Defeat I can handle.
No pride and no fight I can't handle.

Or......................

We have a manager who is unable to adapt his team/tactics/ideals to progess in a certain situation.

Honestly between 2002-2004 we had a team capable of ruling Europe. You have to wonder why they didn't, compared to the achievements of a lot of managers that took their teams further often knocking us o-u-t.

3rd IS BETTER than 4th.

Is it not, this is where we have improved.

We also have more points than last year is this a bad thing?

We are straight into the group stages of CL next year, better than this season.

Number 5 and marcels we'll get you on the radio at some point next season, one way or another man. I like my shows like the forums open to debate....and banter......and :fencing: .......and being called a *word censored* by a dead bloke off eastenders

....oh on the black scarf thing reidy, dont really want to go into it to much on this thread coz there is a black scarf thread.

But its all one big anti-arsene brigade the black scarf idea.

If with this current squad we were lifting the trophy today, there would be no black scaft protest, or even idea. I'll leave it at that.............C.....nah.

Which is what is hard to take, even if like me you have some faith longer term revenues.

From 2008+ we have not seen progress in the playing side of the club, for the first time since Wenger took over.

As for Black Scarves, save any protest for when it is really needed. I saw no Black scarves today anyway, and I made a point of looking for them.

Arsenal are no way unique in commercialisation, in fact I would say the club is under commercialised given it's potential.

You cannot turn the clock back to pre 1992.

Far too much water under bridge since then.

Best to try and get freeze on prices, family discounts and loyalty discounts on ticket prices.

"We should have ruled Europe" is a big shout.
No team in the CL era has been able to do that with all the financial clout that teams have what makes anyone on here think that we can manage that without near bankruptcy??
