We will survive

Post by Champagne Charlie »

We've lost great players and managers in the past

Brady, Rocastle, Wright, Bergkamp, Pires, The back four, Seaman, O'Leray, Graham, Mee, the list goes on.

I've never been one to think any one player/manager is bigger than the club.

And if he goes now or next year it won't be a surprise. So why the wailing and gnashing of teeth?

Anyone would think the Apocalypse is about to descend upon us...

Because him leaving would mean Denilson and Diaby as starters in our midfield. That's enough to send you into psychotic depression.

Bet when Brady left peeps thought we'd be even worse off without him too...

Yes we'll find it hard to adjust to life without Cesc (when he goes) but, do you seriously believe we'll never compete for another title again?

Some peeps are being COMPLETELY irrational about this. Whether we do it with Wenger the current board or another manager or a new owner we will back back to the summit.

In the meantime we have to accept we're not able to compete with the success of others and whilst the status quo remains some of our better players will eventually want to win things elsewhere.

A sad fact of life, i'm afraid.

Is that realism with a hint of sarcasm is sense from your post? The darkside is looming and its taking the possible exit of one of our few quality players to get you there.

Nice sentiiments but that's not the point.

The point is we built some thing very special from 1998-2005 and were told we had to break it up to build something at least as special or moreso even and its beginning to look like we have been misled to say the least, and the realisation that we gave up so much for so little in return is why this is so upsetting. You don't get to build what we built from 1998-2005 too often and so we shouldn't be so willing to toss it aside as we were because we trusted the people who promised something even better. I think now people are beginning to realise just how hollow that promise really was.

If we go back to winning the League once every decade or so then why did we actually build the new stadium?

We may compete for the title again, but it will take Wenger leaving and years and years of re-building before we get to that stage IMO. So, more exciting "transitional" seasons to come yet.

If it takes a transitional period then so be it.

Sorry but, everyone's taking this like it's some kind of bombshell. We know he's gonna leave to return to Barca one day. So why the shock and outrage?

Or didn't y'all really beleive he's gonna leave us?

It didn't take Nostradamus to predict it.

I think we all knew that he was going to join them eventually, but not this soon. I think what frustrates most of us is that we won't have his best years, and in my opinion, if we had players of quality similar to his around him and winning trophies right now, he'd happily stay at least till the end of his contract.

Charlie I want to Know

Post by USMartin »

Is going back to winning the League every 10 or 20 years instead of every two or three or four an acceoatbale retun on the the trust we placed in the club when they decided we had to leave Highbury? Yes or no.

For what the fans pay it is not acceptable. As I said whether it takes a new boss or/and new owners the club is still bigger than any one individual.

This is something some peeps need to get beyond.
It is not a bombshell.
We aren't about to drop off the face of the earth.

I think had you stopped at the first l;ine we'd fully agree.

I think you can still be 100% behind and still express dissatisfaction and anger at the state of affairs

I don’t know what it is about this site at the moment but people are losing the head about Cesc very easily. Take a step back and look at the facts, some cuntslop journo asks him if hypothetically he were to leave Arsenal where would he like to play and he understandably says Barca, his home town, the important word here is IF .
Now Cesc should know better than to give an answer that is succinct and not one that is mired in bullshit, one that could be used to hurt him and Arsenal but on this occasion he spoke his mind....big mistake.
This is all the ammunition that cunthound Laporta needs to cause trouble, it being an election year and all and we are swallowing this class A shit as quick as he can spoon it to us.
There is nothing to this story but rumour so calm down for now. Who is to say what will happen, I mean it is quite conceivable that Cesc will go, maybe not this year but soon enough. At the end of the day he is an employee of AFC and he is not staying here for love, he is doing it for shitloads of cash, so let’s drop the tired old clichés, Fans love clubs and very few players can say the same.
