As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
As I have said on another thread I have no real problem with the vuvuzelas so I would rather have them than the errie silence you would see/hear at many of the matches

That's what I was picking up.
But whether the same feeling against the masses would prefer them at the Grove.
Personally it would be highly irritating but at the same time could give something.
Buzz when the opposition has the ball!
Defo the VUVU..btw GOD knows what it must be like sitting in a footie ground
when thousands of peeps are using those things
Last night while working near Trafalgar square,a south african fan was Blwing a VUVU across the road from me..
It WAS deafening.
I have no problem having those things at the world cup cos it is in south africa and it is a south african custom so fair enough I would however have a serious issue with them being used at a prem match or indeed at any league in europe
I could sit and watch a game in silence. It wouldn't be enjoyable, but I could do it. I think I'd go mental if someone blew a fucking horn anywhere near me.

Proof that not all stewards are stupid, power-crazy spoilsports!!
Noise for the sake of noise is not a good thing in my opinion. The sound those things make prohibit or drown out any proper atmosphere and singing. Also, it's the action on the pitch that should help dictate the atmosphere, not something so artificial. Anything else, apart from spontaneous bursts of old and new songs, doesn't enhance the experience, it lessens and for some people, spoils it.
By the end of the competition wqe will be fed up to our back teeth with them. Like all novelties they are fun for 5 minutes. Ask any parent on Boxing Day.
