Vuvuzelas or Silence?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Vuvuzelas or Silence?

Post by Boomer »

You choose!
What would you prefer at the 'Grove to sit in silence as normal or those annoying vuvuzelas?
But if you had a choice.......

I was going to add a third option of 'neither' but to make it more interesting I've dropped it.

As I have said on another thread I have no real problem with the vuvuzelas so I would rather have them than the errie silence you would see/hear at many of the matches

That's what I was picking up.
But whether the same feeling against the masses would prefer them at the Grove.
Personally it would be highly irritating but at the same time could give something.
Buzz when the opposition has the ball!

Just remember that millwall fan wound up by the south African radio guy, put on hold and a vuvuzela blasted down the phone.

"what the f••k was that?"

"a vuvuzela sir!"

I have no problem having those things at the world cup cos it is in south africa and it is a south african custom so fair enough 8) I would however have a serious issue with them being used at a prem match or indeed at any league in europe

I could sit and watch a game in silence. It wouldn't be enjoyable, but I could do it. I think I'd go mental if someone blew a fucking horn anywhere near me.

I've tried to bring a vuvu to home and away games but can't be fucked to smuggle it in and risk being ejected, they always fucking confiscate it.

To be honest the vuvuzelas are the only thing that is giving the games a bit of atmosphere .. Judging on yesterdays games!

Noise for the sake of noise is not a good thing in my opinion. The sound those things make prohibit or drown out any proper atmosphere and singing. Also, it's the action on the pitch that should help dictate the atmosphere, not something so artificial. Anything else, apart from spontaneous bursts of old and new songs, doesn't enhance the experience, it lessens and for some people, spoils it.
