WORLD CUP chief Danny Jordaan is considering a ban on vuvuzelas.
The trumpet-like instruments have droned through every match since the competition got under way in South Africa on Friday.

Singing from the stands has generally been drowned out as a consequence.

And Jordaan, the chief executive of the World Cup organising committee, admits action may have to be taken.

Asked if fans could be prevented from bringing them into stadiums, Jordaan said: "If there are grounds to do so, yes.

"We have heard from the broadcasters and other individuals and it is something we are evaluating on an ongoing basis."

He added: "We have tried to get some order with it. We have asked for no vuvuzelas during national anthems or when anyone is making an announcement.

"I know it is a difficult question but we are trying to manage it as best we can.

"This matter has been raised on many occasions and my personal view is that I would prefer singing.

"It has always been a great generator of a wonderful atmosphere in the stadiums and we will try to encourage them to sing because that is the strength.

"In the days of the struggle, we were singing - we did not blow anything, we were marching and singing.

"All through our history it is our ability to sing which really inspires and draws the emotions.

"It is a huge debate and it will continue, but we did say that if one lands on the pitch in anger then we will not think twice and take action."
please god, shut the fucking things up
Maybe some English fans can use them to stab someone?

Or just throw them onto the pitch in anger?

By anger...does it mean someone gets so frustrated with the vuvuzela blower beside them that they grab the thing and throw it in any direction so that the vuvuzela accidentally ends up on the pitch?

I don't mind them honestly but saw at least one yellow for playing after the whistle when it appeared the player never heard it because of the horns and that is a genuine problem really.

I think that was in the Ghana match? Thought it was a bit out of order really. A few times the whistle has been blown and I haven't heard it.

Agree. You see a party type atmosphere at some European games, people dancing and jumping through the game, but seems to have nothing to do with what actually happens on the pitch.

The big strength of our game was that the songs historically (usually) reflected the pattern of the game, and the quiet periods allowed for the banter.

Just hope it can get back to that because these days it is too quiet.

I think they are great, to be honest.

It's a festival of football, and they add to it. Nothing wrong with songs, drums, horns....anything that adds to the atmosphere.

In fact, the atmosphere reminds me of Argentina '78, the first World Cup I remember. There was an almost exotic atmosphere, as it was so alien to English football of the time.

Exactly. It's like the caribbean attitude to cricket, so joyful, relaxed and everyone's so happy.
But then again I am a bloody nervous wreck watching arsenal.

I'd rather watch it with my bollocks stapled to the wall and with vinegar poured over the wounds than listen to those stupid fucking horns to be honest.

NOISE IS NOT ATMOSPHERE - IT IS JUST NOISE. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Like when that retard at Pompey is banging his fucking drum. That is NOT atmosphere, it s just one sad Billy no mates making noise. :banghead:

FUCK OFF WITH THE zuzufuckers you fuckers. South Africa should have the world cup taken off them right now, tossers.

Shit opening ceremony too, fucking retards dancing and singing...  :banghead:

The only reason I'm leaving this one open Boomer is because it's about atmosphere more than the world cup but it was borderline, mate...
