this so called youth team...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Southern biased media? Is he having a laugh? Maybe Mr. Know It All can enlighten us as to who exactly owns BSkyB? And the media is biased towards us, right? Give me a break. Every time we win, someone in the media is complaining about our foreigners (which is a redundant argument) and not giving us the credit we are due. Doesn't sound too biased, does it? It sounds like you're being biased, Pancho. Now, that's not like you to be hypocritical, is it? Silly boy.

I did the sums and we did have a squad (ie the 16) worth more then theirs it is true. Only your sums are a tad too high, it was only by £3 million more then theirs.

But hey, how much more did your players cost against Coventry?

I have different prices on quite a few players which is odd.

Khalid, I'm sure we all appreciate the massive amount of effort you put into your research. But in the context of last night I'd suggest it's pretty much irrelevant.

More useful would be a by-player summary of previous Premier League appearances, which might show a slightly different picture.

Unfortunately I don't have the time or inclination to scour the Internet for boring Blackburn stats just to prove a point. I'd be interested however if you do - would make interesting reading - perhaps to our Mancunian interloper too

In fact I'll start it off - Brad Friedel 259; Robbie Savage 74 for Blackburn alone against under 100 I'd guess for the whole Arsenal team from last night...

Bye bye Panto, be sure to come back soon and entertain us some more with your well balanced and carefully thought out points of discussion. I hope it doesn't take you too long to get home, I know that the traffic in Surrey can be pretty awful at times.

Panto - United have a policy of buying every big player at the top of his game from other Premiership sides. It is very much like the Chelsea approach a few years back - cleaning up the best players and preventing the opposition from strengthening.

As long as United continue this approach you'll never be seen as a team of young protégés - a title you obviously covet so badly. It pains United and Fergie that this policy is negated by Wenger's buying policy of buying unknowns from overseas. Arsenal don't shop in Sainsbury's, Tesco's or Waitrose so Fergie can't wipe the shelf clean into his basket because Wenger is down at the Delicatessen doing his shopping.

Here's a list of 'big' buys some of which you confuse with youth players. Just how many of these were top of their game when United purchased them:

Rooney
Tevez
Ferdinand
Saha
Hargreeves
Carrick
Van Der Saar
Stam
Dwight Yorke
Andy Cole
Veron
Sherringham

They are just a few that spring to mind. Compared with Arsenal big and obvious buys:

Sol Campbell

United, since the demise of their home-grown players are no different to Blackburn or Chelsea in buying title after title. Fergie is worried at the challenge Arsenal are posing this season especially since Wnger's young guns was assembled with the kind of money Fergie spends on two players. Which is why Fergie will move heaven and earth to get Berbatov this Jan. Oh guess what another player at the top of his game!

Rob.

Eduardo £7.5 Million...

Don't be silly Khalid, If we follow Pancho's argument of "Yea but if you don't include Almunia that your average age is higher" then surely if we just don't include Eduardo then our team cost £4 million less!!!

LOL - PANCHO = MUPPET, I imagine the Boss sends him home early to stop costing the comapny money
