Really? :?

He was the best finisher I've seen at Arsenal since Ian Wright. Never ever seemed to fluff a one on one and was capable of great goals (vs Sheffield United in the Carling Cup).
I'm with Rebel on this.

I was rather underwhelmed with Eduardo before his injury, and after his injury his reputation went through the roof! :?

Yes, his finishing was superb (like Fowler) but he was often played out wide and his goalscoring record in his first season (7gls in 23 CL and Premier League games) was ok, but no more than that.

His injury came at a time when I think we were all hoping he would kick on, but in reality it never really happened for him before or after that thug broke his leg.

It's great that he's made it back, and I think there's a cracking striker in there somewhere... but we've only ever seen glimpses of that, and built the rest up in our mind, I'm afraid.

Sad to see him go, but quite frankly he was a waste of space last season.
Strange im with Digger on this one. i thought he looked class before the injury almost always hit the terget when shooting and his goals to game ratio was good considering he was still settling into a new league and a much more physical one at that too.

The injury fucked Eddy over and i think he was lucky to be able to walk again let alone play football, i hope one day he will be back to his best but i dont think that will be at arsenal. Good luck Eddy
Agree with Digger and Flash.

Stats do not tell full story, as in the late 2007 early 2008 months pre-injury he had started to settle in and find a really good run of form.
Above all, he looked very sharp, a natural goalscorer.

I think you're saying the same thing really - that Eduardo was potentially a terrific striker but that the injury scupperred that potential really, at least in terms of being a featured striker fo us.

I think the reality is whether he might ever return to the form he displayed prior to that injury we can't wait on him at this point not with League restrictions on squad sizes and club restrictions on invetsment in the team. There's no room unfortunately any way you look at it.

I get it, g88ner's in the homoclique so I'll disagree with him even though he's CLEARLY right!

:D

Anyway, part of me hopes he's loaned out as I'm sure there's a quality striker in there somewhere.... but in reality, I guess that's doubtful. And because of that, I'd rather he was sold and the money used to improve the squad than have a guy whose confidence is shot and just won't get the games to turn it round.

Sad to see him go, but it's the best for Arsenal AND Eduardo.

Joe Cole Arsenal's number 9??????

Thing is I am a big Eduardo fan pre and post injury and the shit people say about him is a tad harsh because its never easy coming back into football from a big injury - I had took time to come back into the game after I tore my medial meniscus I was out for 9 months from Jan to Sept after the operation in the Aug of that year it was hard. Done the injury the day we fucked Liverpool over 6-3 :barscarf:

I went back into football and I tore the medial meniscus again although I still play football on it *hurts like buggery* its hard to get into the flow of the game being out for two/three week then having one game. My second knee op is on the 29th and I sure as hell know I'm not rushing back into the game.

------

I suppose the point of that stroy was its hard to get back to your former self after injury and surgery.

Wow - that's really awful. Fullest credit for you to sticking with it as you having avoided serious injury in my own endeavors on a few sports (largely over now) but knowing other who have gone through similar experiences to your at various levels of competition you should be proud of your courage will and determination to work to go on.

On Eduardo as I say if we could afford a place for him in our squad I'd happily keep him and accept anything he offers as a bonus to all of us. Unfortunately it just seems an impossibility at this point given the various limitations we have to work within.

Best of luck in your continued recovery and efforts. Stay srong, Mate.

You know that excited feeling you get when Wenger starts someone you like? I used to get that when eduardo played, so in my opinion he was a great signing, a good goalscorer...and i will never forget that goal against burnley. Pure class, hope he does well in ukraine.

Time for chamakh to shine.

If we are running our team and team-bilding on such a nakedly budget-driven basis I would very concerned to say the least.

The answer isn't to spend like drunken sailors, but there is a huge middle ground between what we appear to be doing and we we have done in the past nevermind what we could do now and venturing into that ground might not be the worst thing we could possibly do
A simple 'oh I remember that would have sufficed.

No need to have blamed the re-development of Highbury on this one!

A few months ago, I went in for a hard tackle, and injured my foot - nothing serious, but I couldn't walk on it for about a week, and was in pain for about a month. I now find that I pull out of almost every 50:50.

Except I didn't I only pointed out the fact that a club making personnel decisions on a purely budgetary basis is something to worry about. You're putting words in my mouth at this point.

Words that I agree with certainly   but that you have put there this time
