ROBIN VAN PERSIE 10!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

In all serious like the number switches - its a throwback to when you wore the number for your position or the numer 13 or later 13 and 14 and or 15, or even as squad numbers started your number switched constantly. A pain but a cool touch.

Glad for Theo - always knew giving 14 was setting him up to fail spectacularly and only baiting those of us frustrated by seeing the Club part with Players like Henry so easily but fail to replace them. It was totally unfair to the lad really and I suspect jhad worn 32 last year no one would be saying maybe he's ready to take the number 14 but his past couple of seasons would have been rated much more favorably. I don't know if it will the difference we are hoping to see but I do think it will ease the pressure on him a fair bit and might be a real benefit to him and let him be a real benefit to Arsenal.

I think you see too much in shirt numbers. Theo didn't play very well, and hasn't learned how to "play smart" (did that just for you  ).

It's a much simpler game than many would want to admit, because it means they might just have to say this or that guy hasn't done verywell/isn't good enough/is a waste of time.

theo wanted number 8 but nasri beat him to it when freddie left so the only other cool number (they do exist) was 14.
chamakh seems happy with 29 and bendtner asked for 52.
i think its cool, i definately think hard about what number i want when i play, usually 16 or 11 as i just like those numbers.
obviously it doesnt matter on the pitch but i think 10 for van persie might be a new start for him.

im gettin 10 v.persie on the away
and either clichy 22 or wilshere 19 on the home!!!

if i get a long sleeve home aswell ill try to afford song, vermaelen or rosicky on it.

but i have said i wont be buying any of these till we get a new decent keeper.
any news on that? haha

My favourite numbers are 4 and 14 , a little less number 7, 6, 5 and 10. To choose a number like 52 is beyond my understanding.

Numbers are lucky for many players. I always liked playing in 8 or 10.

I once saw an interview with Matthew Pinsent before one of his Olympic rowing finals and they said have you/will you do anything in your preparation to give you luck? He turned round and said luck is nonsense if he doesnt win its because he hasnt trained hard enough or his opponent is better and no amount of luck or tucking his vest in or out will change that. When i heard that made me realise how intellegent those sorts of sportsmen are compared to footballers like Paul Ince for example who would only put his shirt on as he stepped on the pitch.

There is no such thing as luck its just an excuse when things go wrong

Are you talking numbers on the back of your shirt or was 8-10 years old just the size of your kit? :?

I was playing right wing last time i got a shirt made, so got number 7. It would be a bit weird to wear #5 and play there.

Were those shirts the only two in size youth your team had?

A rower....?

Rowing - that's not a fucking sport - it's a hobby for spoilt rich brats that have been buggered silly in public school. Like percy.

Flash, I get the impression you like tennis.
