Yeah, Cesc and Nasri (or Rosicky) will be like Xavi and Iniesta. Fuck Cesc going to Barcelona, let's just copy them, with less cunty players! :barscarf:

I actually had a sneaky suspicion he might have went with the same formation that the Germans did in the WC..4-2-3-1...

He was definitely impressed with them and his attempt to emulate the Barca style and formation didn't really reap great rewards against the better sides so i wouldn't rule out him trying to emulate the German formation, hoping it suits the players we have better than the Barca experiment....

When everyone is fit i can see him going with something like this..

................New Keeper....................
.....................................................
Sagna.......Kos.....Verm.........Clichy.
.....................................................
...............Song.......Cesc................
.....................................................
........Rvp.........Diaby...........AA.........
......................................................
....................Chamakh....................

Diaby??

I seriously hope we sell him this week. Failing that, I hope him and his mate Anderson take a drive down some twisty Portuguese lanes. I can't believe anyone would choose to have him in their side.

Using that formation, I'd go with:

................New Keeper....................
.....................................................
Sagna.......Kos.....Verm.........Clichy.
.....................................................
...............Song.......Ramsey.............
.....................................................
........Rvp.........Cesc...........AA.........
......................................................
....................Chamakh....................

Except Ramsey won't be around until at least November - probably longer if he needs to play a combative midfield role.

Cesc plays in that position ("the hole") for Spain and does well at it.

I like where you are going but would rather have one more defensive midfielder next to Song (NOT Frimpong YET) and Cesc in Diaby's place. If you need goals you could drop CESC back and put Diaby in and let hium push up a bit with Chamakh and give you two target men to hit in the area.

But that could really work with one more quality defensive midfielder next to Song and Cesc pushed up into that attacking role

Why on earth does CIG think we'll play 4-4-2?? - we didn't play like that last season nor have we in this seasons friendlies!!! - don't you think there's a clue in there somewhere???

Also, digger - how many times has Wenger actually gone with Nasri and Cesc in midfield??? he almost always prefers to play Diaby or Denilson alongside Song - I don't expect that to change, as Nasri is more attack minded and if that midfield was in his mind, I'm sure we would have seen it more often by now, surely???

And benglenton   SONG OUT AND WILSHERE IN??? WTF??   - Wenger will not do that!!!

And Mikey???!!!! - you don't think Wenger will pick Nasri??? yet he'll pick Wilshere and Frimpong??
I would like to see Wilshire and Frimpong. I know Wenger will choose Cesc, Denilson, song, nasri

Can I just say that I find this criticism all summer of the 4-4-2 system is ridiculous in the extreme  In my opinion when a team varies from the tried and trusted 4-4-2 is only doing so as they do not believe that their centre midfielders are good enough and again imo we fall firmly into that group :( Song certainly isnt good enough to operate as a 2 man central midfield and tbh I'm not even sure that cesc is but make excuses about changing styles/tactics etc all you want but imo PV4 and petit (in their prime) would still be good enough to dominate that area. To my mind wenger has bought players without considering his system meaning that we regularly see the likes of arshavin, bendtner etc being played out of position and our full backs getting exposed time and time again due to a total lack of cover in front of them

If this thread is about how we believe wenger will line up his team both formation wise and personel wise then I will say that we will again line up with a 4-5-1 formation while wenger continues to tell everybody that we play 4-3-3   Personally I dont feel kos, frimpong or wilshire are ready to be starters and I wouldnt have diaby or almunia in my 25 man squad so that probably means they will be 1st choices under wenger  So to pick my team with wenger's formation and players currently in the squad then I would go with

Flaps

sagna djouru tv5 clichy

song
rvp cesc nasri arshavin

chamach

As you can see it is a line up that will strike fear into teams across europe  :banghead: :wailer:

I actually like these threads! :D

Nominally we now play 4-3-3, but it can change to 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 at various times in each game.

Would not surprise me if by the end of the season we see Song and Frimpong paired in front of the defence for away games against the bigger clubs who attack us, and against the physical sides.
For the start of the season I think that we could well see Song and Diaby play deep midfield, with their understudies being combinations of Denilson, Frimpong and Wilshere.
For other games Song will play a deep defensive role on his own.

Various combinations of Cesc, RvP, Nasri, Walcott, and Arshavin to play more attacking roles in front of them.
Chamakh as a front man who will drop deep, and lays off the short pass for others to run onto.

Ramsey can play either deep midfield, or as part of the attacking midfielders, where I think he is better.

I'm talking about who Wenger might go with..there is no doubt he is a big fan of Diaby and he will want to fit him in somewhere..he is not really suited for a deeper role his ideal position is the more advanced central role which i think he will be given..
If your going to play that German formation your much better off with a ball player playing deeper to link to the front four as quickly and accurately as possible and the only player we have that can do that is Cesc, the germans used Swinefrigger to do that job and for me that is why they looked more fluid than the Brazillians playing the same formation but with two plodding ball winners in the deeper role..

Thanks!

I agree that we ain't going 442 whatever happens!

If we're gonna have 2 holding players, then it has to be Song and Diaby/Denilson/fit Ramsey/eventually Frimpong. No point wasting Cesc there.

Could have:

Song Diaby (etc)
Nasri Fabreags RvP
Chamakh

But then we have no Arshavin. Or no Nasri, or no RvP, or no Chamakh.

Fucking Diaby!

How about the way the chavs play down the road?
4-1-2-1-2?

= = = = = Almunia = = = = = =

Sagna = TV = Kosceilny = Clichy

= = = = = = Song = = = = = =

== = = Cesc = = Nasri = = = =

= = = = = = AA = = = = = =

= = = =Chamakh = RVP = = =

Width creates itself from clichy and sagna getting forward?
AA gets to play in his preferred position?
Fabregas and Nasri can interchange quite happily and will have free roles

I am surprised that everyone is picking Koscielny ahead of The Butter Man Djourou.

I´d go with:

Szczesny
Sagna - Djourou - TV5 - Clichy
Song - Diaby (Frimpong)
Nasri - Cesc - AA23
RvP

I would go with a starting eleven, and hope to score more goals than the other team.

It's posts like that BG that make me proud to be in the same (homo)clique as you!

Fella, I agree with every word and the starting XI Wenger will go with! :gus:

In fact, I think that team/formation is clearly Wenger's preferred choice - but time will tell...

I like that.

Think AA is better suited to the position you have him in than those who suggest Cesc is, because Cesc needs to be a little deeper to focus on the strengths of his passing, whereas AA is faster on the ball running into the box.
