Mayday Mayday.....NO NEW GK !!!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Fabianski as No 1 Keeper.

This is like offering Charles Hawtrey as James Bond and expecting the public to take it seriously.

I'm sad, I really hoped we'll get a decent GK, but I guess will have to do with Average Al and Flappy (I can't believe I'm saying that, so frustrating).. It's a woeful decision.

To be fair, I was dead against Daniel Craig being the next Bond - he was a muscle bound, rugged thug with blonde hair FFS!!! Bond should have BLACK hair and be all swarve and safisticated... BUT to be fair, it worked!

What I'm saying is... gulp.... maybe... erm.... gulp... Flappy might surprise us and make a good 'keeper?  :?

Sorry, I've had a few beers.... :(

I would be shocked if this was true...the sad thing is if it is and it turns out bad some will continue to make excuses for Wenger's decision to not bring in a new keeper...but in the real world no excuses will suffice this time...

It's Fabianksi or Almunia. Yet, despite the fact that Flappy has clearly performed much, much worse than Almunia in an Arsenal shirt, I get the feeling that Fabianski WILL be given the nod this season! :?

I can only imagine that Wenger, Pat Rice and Gerry Peyton keep giving him chance after chance because they KNOW he's a quality 'keeper. They probably believe that once he's got some confidence, he'll kick on and become top, top class - and THAT'S why we haven't seen a new 'keeper this season, or the season before.

I know it seems crazy to us, but they must see something in training that convinces them that buying a 'keeper isn't the answer! :?

I just hope Wenger's right :? :? and quickly! because I don't want to see another season go down the toilet because of 'keeping errors :(

Sadly, I can only see this ending in tears  - although, I doubt signing Schwarzer would help either - that guy has been in the toilet every time I've seen him!

You've not been pulling the old 'George Michael' stunt again have you g88ner?

Every time I hear the name Fabianski I think of the Porto game last season. Some other guotes from the article.

"Wojciech is a goalkeeper of huge quality. At the moment we want to play for the title so I believe he needs some more experience to compete directly for the first goalkeeper position.

"But it depends a little bit. We have four goalkeepers, one of them will go out on loan, three have to stay so we do not know yet who will go out."
