"Groundhog Day"

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Being the 5th richest club in the world does not guarantee success. Just ask Real Madrid! As far as the most expensive ticket prices in the world, its a myth. I saw PSG at Parc de Princes around a month ago. Paid €55 for a row 3 seat for a ligue 1 game which costs £36 at Arsenal. Villareal charged us €75 for that CL q/f. I remember paying £55 for the return leg at the Arsenal. I think Barca charged us €70 for pretty average seats at Nou Camp as well
Yeah Chelsea were winning titles before Abramovich came in

As for the most expensive season tickets:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... rpool.html
Two points there! Being rich helps but does not guarantee

Season ticket, you said world's most expensive not UK's most expensive. Also you comparing the highest ticket prices at each club rather than average. Also take in to account the london factor. In my job in london I earn more than I would in the same job in my company's manchester office. Generally people in london make £5 to £10k more because of the higher prices / costs in London. For e.g renting a flat in manchester is way cheaper than that of renting in london.

Your stance may well have some foundation. However, I have no interest in reading you banging on and on and on about the same thing all the time. You have your point of view, you have tried to do something about it - that is to be admired. But you're now flogging a dead horse as far as this forum is concerned. Any good points you may have had have been smothered by the fact that you have pushed them so much and have pissed most people off - even those that probably agree with your views.

I have no interest in starting an argument with you. I respect your opinion, even though I think it's nonsense - that is my opinion. What I don't agree with is your forcing it down our throat's in every post you make - in this case making a spurious link with a Hollywood movie. You've made you point, now leave it alone on this forum and contribute as the rest of us do. Please.
Thank you for trying to tell me - and as I am a member of this forum - the whole forum what to say and how to say it. That's not censorship, though. What is it imposition of will? Thought control?

Between you and LDB

The scope for debate has become zero leaving no other option but to tell you to shut up which results in you throwing around laughable accusations of "censorship".

And yes i could choose to ignore you, just like i could choose to ignore a screaming child thats been at it for hours... but why should I? When you post in a public space you should attempt to show reasonable consideration for what other people want to read about.
it is clear that some people are perfectly happy to expect its their right to decide what this forum should and should not discuss but are unwilling to take responsibility for t=what they are really doing which is tryiong to censor all of us., because when you censor one person this way you censor every person. There are times where censorship is appropraite and justififed and people trusted to make that judgment and they have done an excellent job even when I have disagreed with them. I'd trust them to continue that here.

I'm sorry you take such offense at waht I post . I m sorrier that you state you share any of the same concerns but no desire to act on them. Whatever your reason in your mond for that at the end of the day doing nothing is doing nothing and its your choice, no matter what excuse you offer to comfort yourself about it.That isn't a criticsm - it's a reality that would apply to me every bit as much in the same instance.
If you're going to attempt to represent my views for me then at least do it properly. Accusing me of wanting to control what is posted is ludicrous in the extreme and i refer you to this post where i further elaborated on what i meant by being considerate when posting in a public space:
LDB wrote:Surely if I or anyone else wanted to censor you we would have done so the first time you started posting rather then the 1,600th? In fact you got quite a receptive response the first time you posted here. I personally disagreed and still do, but you didnt see me trying to get you to shut up, did you? In fact, the people that were praising you at the time are now trying to "shut you down". What does that tell you? Perhaps that we've covered every possible angle here?

A public space does not mean you can just do/say whatever you want with zero regard for the other people within that space. If you really believe it is then you are more childish then i realised. Its the exact same reasoning that stops me from running into a church in a gimp suit shouting BABABOOEY.

And before you bother, this is not to say you can only post things people agree with but rather make your point once (or at least every so often) instead of flooding the forum with it.
Disclaimer: Slight edit to the final paragraph of that quote, it didn't read well.

Its the idea that making an even larger profit is better than trying a bit harder to win trophies that is so galling. What is so shameful about making a smaller profit but making a bigger effort to win things?

No one is against the Board making a profit and being rewarded for their efforts. But there is making a tidy profit and then there is seeking to make 5 and 10 and 30 and 100 million pound profits on shares you paid a pittance for or simply inherited. And that is ridiculous and naked greed. These aren’t people whose next meal depends on selling out or anything. They were all fairly comfortably wealthy before this and will simply be that much wealthier after this.

In other words this is just rich men and women using the club simply to be much much richer and abusing the loyalty of those who have trusted them to protect the club’s best interests.

I have no qualms about the Board taking annual dividends as reward for their tireless work on the new stadium and yes even the Highbury re-development, and making a very pretty penny. The Board have a problem with because they are the ones cashing in as much as they can by selling out. Apparently they just want a bigger prettier penny and appear willing to betray their commitments to protecting Arsenal best interests as a football club to get it.

I will say it again there is a middle ground between what they are doing and what some suggest we believe they ought to be doing that can satisfy all of us – except apparently these very wealthy individuals.
Mate! I would love to respond or comment but its just too long. Trim it down or provide a summary. You seriously need to stop writing theatre plays on this forum

What's too long? If I post three sepreate posts I get accused of having conversations with myself.

Just cut and paste in into sections -as Quartz and I have often done takes maybe two minutes so long as you attribute things right

Just summarise it. Can't you write 4 line paras and then just have 3 paras. So we all just have to read 12 lines in total

I have some time back - now its time you answer mine - do you think that doing any differently would autmatically lead us to bankruptcy and that there is no middle ground that could please both the Board who deserve profits and the supporters who deserve a club that genuinely wants greater success on the pitch?

sorry but you never named a team.

in answer to your question, no it would not automatically lead to bankruptcy, but when you say any differently that is very open isnt it. For example using blue ink as opposed to black is doing something differently but wont really effect anything....apart from maybe effecting some colour blind people.

Now can you name the team, because you havent named one.

OH please stop pretending and trying to be the victim because you know what you are after is in fact wronmg but still want it.

here's the flood you refer to and took action over

And look at one of the very first replies to all that diatribe and invective that just goes on endlessly:
LDB wrote:And fix that opening paragraph. Introductions are crucial and yours makes me want to vomit, tbh.
Now maybe you just took exception to what it actually said. Of course if I had said anything different you would have been among the first to complain about that too.

Your just a self-styled censor who's ashamed to admit and events excuse o after excuse for why you aren't. Nobody is yelling fgire in a corwded theatere here and if infact I were I am sure approraite action would have been taken awhile ago and has even.

No you just feel like people should post what you want how you want and when you want but can't just be adult enough to just admit that. You lack the courage of your convictions in this instance.

Yes as I said there is a middle ground and a pretty large one that we could step into that as I suggested would please both the Board and the supporters - in other words more investment but not risking the club or the possibility of the Board making some money in any way. Now can you give a less qualified answer based on that?

I said there were none I could specifically cite as I don't follow their specific finances enough back in July. SO now I'll hope for that less qualified answer, then....

You're paranoid, deluded and obsessive.

I've tried as hard as i can to reason with you but nothing works. Think whatever you want. I'm out.

Yes your irresponsible language shows how hard you try. Maybe one day you will see what happens when you say the wrong thing to the wrong person out of sipte and realize just how stupid it is. Or maybe you just don't care what impact your words can have on anyone else when said to the wrong person. In which case I can't say i'll miss this or any discussion with you.
