Vito Mannone..

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Get rid
Agree and it's something I've been saying for over a year.
agree too. never looked like the real deal to me.

the only talented keeper in our squad at the moment is szczesny.
BG please explain how you know this, and tell me what he has done to earn this accolade. :banghead: I have only seen 45 minutes of the guy, and he was well, lets be honest he was "pretty shite".
i have ATVO, sid. not long ago they used to broadcast all reserves games, and i always watch highlights of every single under18s and reserves matches when they post it there. also, many highlights of brentford games were around last season, and he was truly unbelievable.

you said you only saw him for 45 minutes? didn't you watch our first CC match of last season, against WBA? he was pretty good in that game, kept a clean sheet and had some tough saves to make.

anyway, from what i've seen, szczesny looks like a very very very promissing keeper.

when he was at brentford, i always looked out for the highlights and what stuck me was how often his name was mentioned, not as we're used to at the arsenal and associated with a clanger ala vito, but because of some point-saving block almost every game. the guy was brilliant and kept cleansheet after cleansheet, won man of the match against leeds...

do yourself a favour though, watch it on mute

Bloke has enormous potential to be World Class , all the attributes of a top class keeper .
Hope that wasn't his Agent who compiled that Video for Potential new Club distribution though  especially on the back of his recent comments expressing frustration at lack of first team progress and his current contract situation .

lets be honest with ourselves, we all want szczesny to be world class because of the complete lack of quality ahead of him at the club. i really hope he becomes one of the top keepers in europe but he wont unless he gets given a chance and until he gets that chance we wont know whether or not he is the real deal...

so lets just hope when he gets his chance, he destroys it and gets a much smaller number on his back next season!

Very insightful of you  Do you think this is why he isn't our/Wenger's first choice 'keeper :banghead: :banghead:

Point out the bloody obvious why don't ya !!

Exactly right and that's why I feel that his chances are being talked up all too easily by some. FFS -one decent season at Brentford. I would hazard a guess that Vela might look half decent if he spent a year in League One.

The only way we'll ever find out is if the GIC gives him a proper run in the first team. Until then it's all speculation

Problem is we have a No. 1 keeper who would be a very good No. 2 keeper and three other keepers who desperately need loan spells with quality clubs to prove their worth.

Tough times for Italian football lately. But Marchetti is a great future prospect anyway.
