Will Van Persie ever be fit again?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I personally think he is the closest thing to DB10 and when he is on form he f*cking entertains me and gets my fat arse of my seat so yes I think we should deffo keep him.

Sorry Wayno.
No worries Gimpo, I like RVP a lot and agree it would be great to have him play week in week out. I just get pissed off that he is always injured and think we could spend 60 grand a week or whatever on someone who is likley to be fit for most of the season.

Wayno I'll think you will find that the £60k a week saving will be used to pay the wages of 5 or 6 teenagers who will be outstanding talent in 4 or 5 yrs time....maybe  . The whole transfer saga has got so depressing now that I dont want us to sell anymore players no matter how dodgy/crap/embarrassing they are(& yes I am talking about almunia, song &eboue  ) cos I know that wenger wont bother signing a replacement

I do rate rvp as much as the next man but I can never understand the comparisons with DB10 - DB was a genius that love sliding those pin point passes through for someone else to score while rvp is more of a goalscorer with a hammer shot. It is a pity that his injuries are piling up and it dont look good for the future for him either

I know I'm a bit behind the times here but...

It's not just RvP you know. I wonder how many times either he or Gallas have played 5 consecutives games or more for Arsenal without sufering injury, needing a rest or simply throwing a hissy fit?

Both very good players - particularly Gallas - but I do question (as with a lot of foreign players at all clubs) whether they should be allowed to turn up when they feel like it.

Wasn't like that in my day.

Tsk..flogging's too good for 'em !

They should have a 'Pay if you play' policy, that would soon sort out the sickie merchantsImage

Augie,
The reasons RVP is compared and likened with/to DB10 are as follows, both are Dutch, both are strikers, both have superb shots from outside the box, both have superb close control that make defenders look silly, both are pretty f*cking handy with dead balls and both have been in coffee shops in Amsterdam.

I totally agree with your point regarding Bergy threading balls through for other people to score but that was only from 98 onwards coz when he was RVP's age he was banging in 40 goals a season for Ajax and he wasn't threading any balls to nobody.

I'll stick to my guns - long live RVP.
