Can you exapnd on that sid.
Well without getting into a whole "what's wrong with society" debate. Drinking in the streets around the ground is against the law, now I enjoy a drink as much as anybody, in fact I can assure you I enjoy a drink a lot more than most.
But if someone can't make it from the pub to the stadium without a drink, then they have a fucking drink problem, or are simply an asshole.
Everyone thinks they can be the exception to the rule, and if the police allow this, then every *word censored* will be making their way to the ground with a drink in their hand, then it will be "well it's ok for me to take a piss in this doorway" etc etc etc.

I think that's way off the mark mate TBH. It's not about "making it from the pub to the stadium" without a beer at all. Pubs are ofter packed, not chaep and served in shit plastic glasses, why pay 3 quid and upwards for it when you can get a can from the shop for a pound ? Also especially in the summer there's nothing wrong with getting a couple of cans and sitting outside. I think you're wrong on this one mate.

I agree with you Al!
I know some people who fly over from Belfast virtually every game and they get a few cans instead of going in the pubs simply to make the day more affordable.
There is a massive difference in having to have a beer in a can for the 5 minute walk from the pub to the ground and having a quiet can or two whilst sitting watching the world go by and having a chat.
I would also like to add that I do like a drink also and can flit between pub and can with ease.

i think your dead right sid, why people feel the need to get a cheap can just to get another drink for the walk and drink on the streets is beyond my thinking, and it is the law so the cops are only doing there job, drinking on the streets is for winos.

It's not me that makes the rules, and those are the rules. They are not made to be interoperated to suit ourselves. I am not saying the rules are just, simply that they are the ruleS and should be adhered to if you don't want hassle from the cops. Otherwise if you pick up a fine then you have no one to blame but yourself.
If you don't agree with them then I'm afraid you will need to write to your MP.

Just out of interest, what are your thoughts on the atmopshere in the stadium and the rules one should adhere to ? Like not swearing ? Standing Up ? Do you agree with those ?
I think one of the issues Sid is that the rules change at will when it suits the police.
We ussed to sit down by the big letters at the bottom of the Clock End bridge and have a can or two. It was great just sitting there when the weather was good watching people go buy.
The all of a sudden the old ill decided that we had to stand over the other side of the road next to the away supporters outside the pub! Great idea that. Then the next week they said we were causing trouble by standing that side and told us to go back across to the letters. Then we was told we could not dring there at all when there were 500 away fans drinking five yards away!
Stopped bothering with it as it got too much hassle in the end.
It's not a case of HAVING to have a can on the way to the stadium but one of ENJOYING a can on the way. It's just part of the craic. I mean, we don't piss on peoples doorsteps or abuse anyone or cause trouble.
I also agree though that if it's the law and a cop says drink or ditch the can then basically as a law abiding tax payer etc I will do so without complaint. It's part of being a member of society.
I think I should be blamed because as an Islington resident I've complained a number of times about people drinking alcohol on the streets and the behaviour of drunken individuals

You may not piss or cause trouble but I have seen plenty that do
Cheers sid, but unless the original poster comes back with something different, I don't think it is illegal to drink in this zone - just those who cause a nuisance (Percy, DB10, etc... ). Also, it's not so much about people walking and drinking, it's about people sitting and drinking near the stadium away from people's houses. If it's a nice day, no harm I think.
Myself, I like a good, good drink, but mostly in the pub. I am happy if people are somewhere near the stadium, out of the way, with a few cans. What I don't like is people perching up outside a boozer near the ground where there's a large number of fans outside, with a load of cans taking advantage of the atmosphere created by those people buying drinks from the pub. Just fuck off.

The thing that's annoying to your last sentence is that the cops will stand on the edge to the CDZ and not use common sense.
Referring to Percy's post the Arsenal Letters are not part of the zone. Not that it mattered but had the cops asked him to move from the letters nearer towards the ground he is further away from the residential streets.
Think how many fans you see outside the turnstiles drinking? That's because the cops can't police the CDZ on private property.
