Your facts look good on paper but in reality they aren't as promising, I feel.Jacky Wilshere wrote:im certainly not following him blindly....i support him cause i think he is dong a good job and because i think he is the best man for the job.Kvltman wrote:It's the pure shite that comes out of Wenger's mouth after games and just to the press in general that gets people's backs up, we've been hearing it all for years and nothing changes, yet some people still choose to follow him blindly. That's fair enough if that is their opinion but would they still be following as willingly when we are 4 more years down the line and in the exact same place?
if the time ever came that i thought he wasn't doing a good job then id say it....we're there or there abouts this season,2nd in the league, semi final of cc and last 16 of Champions leagueI know people aren't happy about havin to play Barca but at the end of the day of you want to win the competition then you're going to have to beat the best teams.
Modern day football is all about fine margins-2006 13 mins away from winning a Euopean Cup-2007 Carling Cup final-2008 probably should have won the league,Birmingham and Eduardo shot that one down,2009-champions league semi and fa cup semi and 2010 up to probably April we could and probably would have won the league had the majority of our best players not been missing for large chunks of the season.Wenger has kept this team competing through the stadium move and against teams who have an infinite budget.Im proud of the way our club is run and i dont understand where alot of the criticism on here comes from cause i think its OTT sometimes
For example, the champions league last 16. Yes it isn't ideal playing Barcelona this early and if the manager had taken the groupstage more seriously then we could have avoided them entirely and for all we know someone else could have knocked them out in the last 16. Yes you have to beat the best but surely it's easier to avoid Barcelona until the very last moment or avoid them completely?
We are 2nd in the league but it has been even more tupsy turvy than last season and the facts are we have played very poorly in a lot of games not even including ones against our biggest rivals. Not just playing poorly but also completely bottling games and showing a complete lack of application and desire. It's the managers job to inspire the players and for all his words and a few games won in a row we still see the same old thing when it really matters. So if the manager did change his ways even slightly imagine where we could be in the league, perhaps top and clear by a few points!
Paris 2006 was a heartbreaker and we were unlucky in general. However, we bottled the league in 2008 because Wenger couldn't keep the squad together and refused to strengthen in the transfer window. The 2009 semi-finals were quite frankly embarassing and mainly due to Wengers decisions. And the finish to last season was utterly dreadful. And because of problems that have been there for all to see not being addressed who can blame people for losing faith in Wenger and for us to see the exact same results come May?
