Arsene's gone to bed - We aren't making a signing in January

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

[quote="enjibenji"]Arsène Wenger is hoping that Carlos Vela’s loan deal will be completed before the end of this week.

At the start of January, the Arsenal manager revealed he wanted his Mexican striker to make a temporary move in order to get some playing time. Major clubs from England and abroad have contacted the Frenchman about a possible loan, with Bolton boss Owen Coyle publically professing his interest.

According to Wenger, the 21-year-old prefers a move to Spain but the manager wants to keep him in England. Either way, a deal could be sealed after the Carling Cup Semi-Final second leg with Ipswich.

YoungGunsBlog: Croatian news outlet Gol.hr say they can exclusively reveal that Arsenal have agreed a €15 million fee with Dinamo Zagreb for Šime Vrsaljko.

Vrsaljko is a 19-year-old right back who can play centre back. The Croatian media say he would sign in January, then be loaned back.

Arsenal send scout to run the rule over Rangers duo Madjid Bougherra and Allan McGregor

Arsenal ran the rule over Rangers' Madjid Bougherra and Allan McGregor again on Wednesday night.

Manager Arsene Wenger sent trusted scout Alex Stafford to Hibernian's Easter Road who saw Algerian centre half Bougherra score after 26 minutes in the Gers' 2-0 victory.

The Gunners have also sent representatives to negotiate with Dinamo Zagreb over the possible signing of teenage defender Sime Vrsaljko.

Arsenal have already had one offer rebuffed for the 19-year-old right back, who can also play at centre back and is in the senior Croatia squad.

I'm so pleased that it looks like Wenger meant it when he said that Squillaci's return means he doesn't need to buy a centre half :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Looks like Wenger has made up his mind not to buy someone and has decided to gamble with what we've got. Just hope his judgement proves to be the right one this year otherwise he'll have no-one to blame but himself should it all go tits up.

I imagine there'll be a whole lot more gooners than there currently are, ready to make their discontent known should we fall short due to a lack of strengthening.
