As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

All of us can see we carry Denilson, Rosicky, Eboue, Bendtner, Squirrel, Alumnia, plus the form of Arshavin needs a decision at some point.
A good CB would have made a great difference but off loading one or two dead wood could have opened space for newer better players.
Arsenal have money and lots of it so while Chelsea spend massive after just a few defeats we just plod along and get the same result.
Mind you we win the Carling Cup this year ! Dont worry ITS MASSIVE.
Here’s a question. Name me FIVE (5) sides in English Football history (not just EPL history, you can go back as far as you want) that had a 2nd string of players that could be played en masse and get decent results? I am interested to hear the answers to this. Chelsea and Man City are not allowed since they have sugar daddies that can pay ridiculous wages. So come on, five sides that had a strong 2nd string of players in all of football history?
People dont seem to get just how lucky we are to have a squad like this.
We played for over half the match with 10 men, without Sagna, Djourou, our first two ‘keepers, Clichy, Wilshire, RvP, Walcott, Ramsey, Vermaelen and Nasri. It was Diaby’s first game back after a long, long injury. Song played central defense. Chamakh is in terrible form.
And we won. Against a decent lower division side that was playing its Cup Final.
What the heck is the problem?
Mate, I'm not gonna slag you off for your optimism but surely you can't believe that the way we scraped a win at the weekend can in any way cover up how short we are in the centre of defence?
Do you really believe that players like Squillaci, Denilson, Rosicky etc are good enough for Arsenal should we be unlucky with injuries or need to rotate?

Arsenal's lack of buying recently is difficult to accept. I appreciate we home-grow our players, and I respect it. But there's just such gaping holes in the team that could be so easily filled, and we are a profitable club that has widespread title ambitions... it makes no sense to me.
I cannot say, how limited our ambitions seem again, OK we knew full well we wouldn't sign anybody, but one C/D may of made all the difference come April/May time?

I understand Georges point of view and to a certain extent yours but a more valid question would be "what was the difference in wages being paid to both sets of players that started the game".
Even if it was a cup final game for them, it still doesn't hide the fact that we looked absolutely garbage and that you could easily have been mistaken when pointing out which players were on 2-5 grand a week to those that were on TEN TIMES and MORE than that amount.
At least give us some sweat for these obscene wages, even a little fuckin blood is not imo asking too much either.
Our so called very strong squad players struggled against Leeds, Ipswich(we should have been beaten at their place convincingly) and Huddersfield now if that doesn't tell you that our squad does not have strength in depth then unfortunately nothing will.
We have a great starting 11 and 3-4 others that are decent, but thats your lot, the rest are massively overrated, overpaid and unfortunately over fuckin here

How many of us feared complete Chelsea domination when they signed Shevchenko? What a bust he turned out to be. Was it a mistake or simply a case of a player not working out the way he was supposed to? Like you say, Squillaci had the resume. He has obviously found the transition to English Football harder than Koscielny. But he came highly recommended. I remember listening to a podcast earlier in the year where they a French Football writer saying that signing Squillaci was a master stroke, that he was highly regarded across Europe and that his experience would be invaluable. At 5.5m he seemed a bargain. Certainly Sevilla didnt want to lose him. If he has turned out to be less than expected, then what is the chance that just about any other “nameâ€

Highly recommended by who? His mum? FFS he was a reserve player at Sevilla!! In 2.5 years at Sevilla, a mid table side he played just 49 games - yeah he was really well thought of wasn't he!
Squillaci was yet another of Wenger's bargain basement fill in's. You pay shit money you get shit players and that's exactly what we got - Silvestre mark II
