Lehmann in talks to re-sign ( On SSN)

Guys, five months ago he still looked like this:

So I wouldn't be too worried about his fitness. He said he does more training now than before he retired because he wants to stay fit, he plays with a small, local club, occasionally trains with VfB and Arsenal, did a bunch of charity/all star games and does all kinds of other sports.
He was still pretty good in his last two years playing for Stuttgart and certainly way less mistakes than Almunia. You do not just forget how to play after a couple of months or how do goalies who have been out for months with an injury manage to come back in good form after a bit of training? He would only be no 2 and IF Almunia should get injured Lehmann certainly won't be worse than him so relax.

Anyway, I still don't believe the whole thing is true anyway. The Sun might just have a lucky guess.

I love Mad Jens, but this is ridiculous.

Why not ask Martin Keown if he fancies coming out of retirement? After all he's only 44.

He'll sit on the bench for 10 games.

He's barely older than Van Der Sar!!

Age is nothing for a keeper!

No that won't happen because fate will decree that Almunia gets injured and we will play a retired 41 year old in goal...adding further glory to our glorious season. Jens was a hero but in his prime prone to daft moments..what chance of that now. ?This is fucking madness.

Almunia made about 10 times more mistakes in the first half on this season than Lehmann in five years.

They've never seen eye-to-eye either. Still no news of him signing.

Almunia is a *word censored*.

And Lehmann is a legend.

Now finally the throne will be passed properly onto Szceszny.

He wanted to finish, no motivation anymore maybe.

He's basically the same age as the United keeper so his age is irrelevant.

He will train himself up, few weeks time be ready to displace Gonzo the clown.

As we can see from the photo posted of him on holiday he's hardly let himself go.

How is this worse exactly?

It's not ideal really but it can't get worse than Almunia. And may not even play.

I'm sorry but I'm not taking these moans seriously, I heard the same about Campbell last year and he was our best defender.

Quality just what we need to sort the defence out. Seriously

All this talk about the team needing a hero to stand out and make things happen. I think Jens will put a (much needed) rocket up the defences arse if they try any shenanigans. Could you imagine in Lehman was in goal at the barca game, he would have lumped cesc for trying a backpass like that outside the box.

I think this could be a massive blessing in discuise.
