Never celebrate

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The problem we have is that our players are not motivating by winning trophies, and that has been instilled in them by the manager who keeps telling them that finishing in the top four is as good as winning cups.

I must be the only one on here that thinks the atmosphere wasnt as bad as normal.

At the end of the day the support doesn't play the game out, even if the 60k sang loud for 90 mins those fools would still try and pass the ball into the net.

Yep, it's been a lot worse on many occasions than it was today.

Are you really blaming the fans for that shocking performance?

The fans fault that bendtner played on the wing?

The fans fault that we couldnt hold on to a lead with 1 minute left?

The fans fault that our idiot right back doesnt relise that a player is running away from goal and no need o ge so close?

I might use that excuse tomorrow at work when my boss moans at me ... "im doing a shit job because you aint singing a song about me or cheering me on"

What a load of bollocks!!!!

How silly of me to think that a fervent passionate, intimidating crowd who are prepared to be the '12th man' by backing their team to the hilt may in fact be beneficial to the team as opposed to a crowd who sit in silence. :duh:

It may be beneficial, but if the team cannot play without noise then they need fucking sacking. We have never had a great support (in terms of noise) didnt fucking stop the invincibles.

Its not the crowd mate its wenger and his team of losers.

Sounds like i'm in a minority but thought it was decent today in block 11 compared to last 4 or 5 home games. Not too much early leaving, starting 3 or 4 different songs while carragher was down...maybe its that age old thing of it not travelling but i sang a fair bit today spurred on by those near me.

The fact is the club have diminished any atmosphere there once was, so if they ever try and blame the fans they can fuck off.

Young people cant afford tickets, most ST holders are OAPs, the accoustics in the stadium are terrible so the away fans never hear anything from the redsection.

Dont get me wrong, most of the home fans are JCL knobs or tourists with shit english, but ask yourself why are these the home fans!

So, which one of you *word censored* was it who ran on to the pitch in the 98th minutes and gave away the penalty?

Whoever you are, you're a disgrace!

I have to be honest I don't think it was the worst atmosphere I've heard at the Grove this season but it certainly wasn't a cauldren of noise. I may be wrong but I also think that the mentality imprinted on the team by Wenger means that for some of them crowd noise isn't a huge motivation. Problem for those who do care is as soon as something isn't going to plan the crowd & players start getting into a feedback loop of nervousness & fustration.

Was in block 117 above the away fans. Don't normally sit up there but left buying the tckets too late. Some of the people in that block today were the definition of shit support.

Directly left of me were a couple of people that couldn't speak English and were more interested in their mobile phones than the game. To the right were two scousers that had obviously bought off a tout, they wildly celebrated that penalty at the end.

Probably my worst experience at The Grove so far.
