Happy May 26th 1989 day

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:Another question for you all.

My mates and I drove up to Highbury on Saturday morning, pretty much straight after getting home from a night club in sarf London where we'd drunk and sang til it got light again. When we got to Highbury I saw one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. I turned my car off Blackstock Rd into Elwood Street and Elwood was completely blocked by about 15 blokes on their knees, praying to the East Stand. Me and my mates sat in my car pissing ourselves laughing and it remains one of the most surreal things I've ever seen. It hit me then just what that League victory meant to all of us!!

Was anyone on here one of the blokes praying?

I went!

Still have my ticket which was the princely sum of £3!

I don't know a Tony Anderson but I do know a Tony Woodcock and Viv Anderson if that helps?

£3 for a ticket! Couldn't even buy a programme for that now.

Watching the goal again I just love Winterburn's celebration. What a fucking legend he is.

Was there after a seven hour drive. What a mental night, sums up what The Arseanl was all about. Also, got on TV at the end of the game!
