As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
There is no doubt the club were partly at fault. But there is also no doubt club was swayed by Mourinho.
And he seen the foreign legion taking over here, basically a bunch of losers. He seen the Chelsea English lads, and they may be c**ts, but they were a tight knit group. I've no doubt the likes of Lampard, Terry and J.Cole were friendly with Ashley in the England camp and he wanted in after the likes of Keown, Adams etc left the club.
Would you choose your England mates ahead of the club you supposedly love though?
Let's face it Cole is a *word censored* and will always be.
I will never forget his line "when I heard 55k I nearly swerved off the road", greedy little shite.
Personally I really dont feel footballers anymore have real affinity to any club no matter what they say. Look at Sol Campbell. He was even good mates with Cashley.
We grow up having kick abouts, and supporting your team. It never goes. These young lads grow up in the Academys and playing is their life.
They never get that bug that the clubs in you like we all have. I remember Tony Adams saying similar, he found it hard to identify with the Supporter culture of following a club.
If even the likes of him say its not the same, its easy to imagine what the likes of Cashley and current players feel.
You sit Nasri down, make him an attractive offer but not a ridiculous one, and say 'You have 4 weeks to decide', if you don't sign you will be sold, if you refuse to move to another club you will spend the season in the reserves.
Simples, someone needs to grow some balls and put some pressure on these players!!

I couldn't agree more matey that's exactly what should happen but no, Wenger will grovel to his little babies and beg them to stay. It's at times like this that I wish we had 11 English players who understand the privilege of pulling on that red shirt and if we were mid table then I'd be happy, really genuinely happy. But no we have, like most clubs, greedy little fuckers who think they can blackmail the club every fucking summer. It has to stop

Check this out:
P(r)oof if needed!
Nice sig btw.
In all seriousness though, Nasri is one of our more dirty players. I know it's not saying much in this current squad but i've always found him to have that bit of a nasty streak to him and he doesn't take shit from opposition players. Never scared to put his foot in or start a ruck.

I agree with you that he is one of our more dirty players. He is also very good at snidey kicks etc., and as long as he's wearing an Arsenal shirt and doing it I can quite happily accept that as part of the game.
Problem is I also agree with you that 'it's not saying much' that he's one of the hardest of our collection of bottlers.
I wonder really whether Wenger decided to change his approach because of the negative press about the number of red cards the team were getting at the start of his Presidency, or what else convinced him to change his approach?
It is strange to see the change in speereet, because AW did buy some mean players at the start. Vieira, Petit, Lauren, even Grimandi, Luzhny.

Like Cashley.... ?
Ashley Cole is the exception......he's just an Englishman with no brain!
All part of the flawed model and why this club will never win the major prizes.
Sign foreign players and they don't work out - they never want to leave because they have 5 year deals on the sort of terms they could only dream about in any other country
Sign foreign players that suddenly have 1 decent season (Flamini, Adebayor, Hleb, now Nasri) - their agents are hawking them around all over Europe and you have 2 choices. Either pay the wages or let them go. Personally if we want to compete with United and Chelsea, then I'm sorry the guy should be paid £110k per week. Excessive...yes. Necessary evil - also yes.
I suspect this will be resolved still....but if it doesn't then the failed model continues for another year. We let him go for something like £15m or less, we sign someone else from France that takes a year to bed in. Repeat until 2014 at the earliest. Could exploit the situation of course by signing Ashley Young who is in the same contract situation but that won't happen as the Mickeys and Mancs want him more

Sorry to upset the majority who hate Ashley Cole but the situation over his wage demands were handled very badly by the club (and by Ashley ultimately).
It was a disgrace the way that he was treated. He was a brillinat left back and is much missed at our club. I wish we had him now.
This is the runt who went behind the back (illegally) of the club he supported as a boy to engineer a move to one of our main london rivals.
EXACTLY! He was even a supporter of the club. How pissed off must he have been to do what he did.
Of course, he should not done what he did, BUT he is much missed, he was spot on when he commented on the French cliques etc in the dressing room and I for one was gutted the day he left.
Creating a situation whereby Ashley wanted to leave was nothing short of a disgrace and the club messed up very badly. Not been the same at the back since we lost him.
Sorry but we all know that is the truth. Best left back in the world and we let him go. Genius work by our board.
