Nasri Contract situation

Also, lets not forget it was our PV who told him to demand more money from the club.

The board handled Cole's contract appalingly, whatever the figures they went back on a promise they made. Sure he handled it wrongly, but he was pissed off. He's a *word censored* yeah, but I can understand him on his anger with the board.

I have to say that I can't believe that the majority on here would quite happily play hard ball against the (possible) demands of Nasri and risk him going.....and yet at the same time be saying that Arsenal should pay over the odds to get the like of Samba on board.

If we truly want to compete against the like of Chavs, Utd, Citeh etc then we have to be prepared to occasionally pay over the odds in terms of salary AND transfer fees. And we can't afford to expect anyone - whether English, Arsenal supporting or not - to sign a contract out of loyalty to the club..... I think you have to go back 20 years for the last time that happened!

The thing is I don't believe for one nano second that he wants to stay, so let him go and watch his career go the same was as Hleb and a few others.

I dont think we should pay over the odds to nasri but nor do I think we should pay over the odds for samba or cahill so what grouping does that put me in ?

Personally I suppose it comes down to personal opinions of how much a player is rated - for me nasri has maybe accumulated 5 months of good performances since he has joined the club so for that reason I dont think he has done anything near enough to justify these wage demands. I have no probs paying over the odds in wages or transfer fee to a world class player but I have a huge problem with paying average players like bendtner, diaby and denilson wages above their talent level. For me nasri falls somewhere between the two talent levels.....he has done enough to justify a wage increase but not enough to deserve 110k per week and certainly not enough to merit getting parity with cesc

I like Nasri and hope he stays - he's one of the few proven top class PL players that can change games. But if he wants that kind of money then f**k him - move on son cos nobody in the world deserves nearly £25 million for kicking a bloody ball!! (That's £6million a year for 4 years - ridiculous amount of money!)

It's getting so badly out of hand because player A has a good season so next year he gets an increase to £100,000 a week (£5million a year). Player B then has a good season and says "if A is on £100,000 a week then I want the same".

Until this shite stops we'll never get any common sense back into football and we'll keep paying out thousands just to watch our teams. :banghead: :banghead:

Looking at our transfer targets and pretty much every player in the world I now want nasri and cesc to stay more than anything.

BECAUSE NO FUCKER WANTS TO SIGN FOR US. We wont get better than them in a million years.

"Common sense...."! Arsenal have pretty much applied common sense to transfer policy over the last few years and where has it got us :banghead: ?!?

I'd love a season or two now of devil may care frivolity..... Samba - £20m no problem sir! Nasri? You want £110k a week. Here, take £120k if it puts a smile on your dear little face.

Common sense is great, but not if we're the only top team in Europe who is displaying it.....

There's a ready made replacement for Nasri just waiting - Ashley Young, a player who is more consistent than Nasri. So if Samir is being greedy, then wave bye bye, sell him for 15-20m and buy Young for somewhere around the same money and I'm sure he would take 90k a week no problem!
Totally agree with the previous poster, one good season (or half a season in Nasri's case) does not make you deserving of being the top earner in the squad.
There is no issue in paying top class players 100k a week (as Nasri is probably being offered anyway), the real damage is paying Barry B, Roshitsky, Denilshit etc £50k+ a week.......disgraceful.

We may have applied common sense to transfer policy mate but common sense has been nowhere near our wages policy.

It's a total myth that Wenger is frugal - just look at the ridiculous contracts he gives to some utterly useless, lazy bastards. That's where all of our money goes and we've got sod all to show for it. :banghead: :banghead:

mattspiro Matt Spiro by Gingers4Limpar
Nasri asked on Telefoot if he may join #MUFC: 'Let's find out if the interest is true first, then we'll talk about it'

Dan I would just like to note that Matt Spiro is both a goal.com blogger and does Red Cafe podcasts, so would take any quotes from him about SN8 with a fistful of salt.

Also good to see AW has cancelled his summer holiday to try and sort things out.

Fair one, don't really know much about the guy just jumped out at me on twatter.

For what it's worth I think he'll stay but it'll be a long drawn out process which will somewhat tarnish his reputation with fans as a result :(
