FC Arsenal
My view is that if you don't want to go and watch Arsenal, or can't afford to watch Arsenal, go and watch one of the many existing non-league clubs that exist in and around London (but not Luton obviously). Arsenal will still be there and these smaller clubs woudl welcome your support.
My local team, Tonbridge Angels, won promotion from the Ryman Premier to the Conference South this season. Normally they get 400-500 for home games. There were 2,500 packed into the ground fo rthe play-off final. Really great atmosphere and a 4-3 win. Most TAFC fans follow another League club and I make the 5 minute walk from where I live to watch them when the gunners aren't playing.
FC United and AFC Liverpool are just as plastic creations as the MK DOns are. Despicable in my opinion. AFC Wimbledon is different becasue they are a continuation of a traditional club that was franchised away.

Finchley Wingate & Haringey Borough appear to be the nearest with grounds? No way would I support either of those because one plays in White Hart Lane & the other are **** as wellMK Gould wrote:What's the nearest non-league team to Arsenal?

Hendon seem to have moved somewhere else because their ground by Brent Cross is now closed.
Anyone know any other candidates?
we're all pissed off at being ignored and shit on in a multitude of ways by the current board and manager, but for fuck sake get a grip.you are fortunate enough to be fans of the greatest club on the planet and up untill a few years ago you all as i did, walked around as smug and pleased with life as could be.so in the scheme of things what these monkeys are doing now has to be endured.one of two things will happen.1 THE GRAND RESTRUCTURING WILL WORK SPECTACULARLY,the new euro rules and our solvancy will make us the top club home and abroad.
2 IT ALL GOES TITS UP AND WE LOOSE TOP 4 STATUS.the manager and board are totaly outed for mercanary chancers.
if either of these options occur what have you got to moan about .we're in the doldrums now and its hurting more than usual because we are kept in the dark and feel betrayed ,we no longer trust or believe anything we're told.this is the modern game.we have extremely high expectations on the pitch now due to recent sucesses but you must remember it all goes in cycles only fergusson has been able to sustain it lfc, barca, real, inter,ac have all failed in this time.wait and be patient.remember you support ARSENAL not its owners, managers, players or staff.if your old enough recall the end of mee's time, howe's tenure and even worse neil's era.it wqas'nt really untill GG arrived we had anything to shout about, and before them you had to go back to the forties, allison and whittaker.it aint going to take that sort of time just soak it up and be patient.

You dont really believe those rules will come in do you? If they do i think Real Madrid and Barcelona amongst other massive teams wont be eligible to enter the European Cup, do you really think UEFA will allow that? If you do youre out of your mind mate and more deluded than WengerMEDINABOY wrote:1 THE GRAND RESTRUCTURING WILL WORK SPECTACULARLY,the new euro rules and our solvancy will make us the top club home and abroad.
Methinks that MEDINABOY had tongue firmly in cheek.....flash gunner wrote:You dont really believe those rules will come in do you? Whatever the rules are, the bigger/powerful clubs will always find a way round them or UEFA will just ignore breeches. May not be a bad thing for us in England though as I think they are more likely to take a tough stance against the like of Chelsea and Citech than they are against Real, Milan, Juve and Barca. I see that the Italian clubs are starting to (or at least so the rumours suggest) spend bigger than ever and you'd wonder whether they too give a toss about the new rules.....
anyone who know the landscape will tell you it's much easier for northern teams to set up break away clubs, it's cheaper more space and dare I say it closer and more passionate than southerners.
not only would we need to get very organised and need 2-5000 members it would need a couple of heavy weights with legal power to get anything off the ground. London ain't like no other city and FC Arsenal could only really be in islington or woolwich area IMO.

mmmmmmm do i think monsewer platidpini would enforce a law that would place AFC of england in an unassailable position for at least five years ?does anybody remember wing ding from stop the pigeon?.the rule will be as open to debate an mis interpretation as he can possibly make it while at the same time putting euefa and monsewer in the best possible light. the big bankrupt names will be able to prevaricate and tie them up in appeals and litigation whilst carrying on regardless

I agree with those who support Arsenal come hell or high water - I can't imagine forming another club and supporting it. But I will say this if you are serious-they won't let you use Arsenal this bunch - go for FC Highbury, I don't think they can copyright the Borough's name - besides it's a nice nod to our heritage...
