Good job Arsenal have 2 very very good young center backs coming through ourselves Miquel and Bartley.

No point in crying over missing out on him, we need an experienced signing, not an average over priced English player who has proved nothing in his career.

Miquel and Bartley :coffeespit:

Wenger tried to sign him and he chose united so much for your first paragraph Wenger tried to sign him for that cash etc
It's the first line that got me, questioning if he is he a big player and must be crap as he has no caps.

If a player has talent then the caps come.

Djourou has loads of caps and is shit, Jones has none and is twice the player, Terry had none when he broke into the Chelsea team and has not left, your point?

Whats so funny about Miquel and Bartley? Miquel is 6ft 4, been stealing the headlines whilst playing for Spain, both have captained the reserve teams and both have a lot of potential. The lancashire paper reported that he had talks with Arsenal, so how can you be sure that information is accurate.

If you think that £17 million represents good value would you not rather sign the £20 million rated Cahill or Jagielka? We already have 2 simular players to a 19 year old Jones, would much rather spend our budget elsewhere.

It gets better, Miquel is a typical Wenger player, all style, no metal, he looks like he could get blown over in a strong wind,

Do you not understand what i am saying? There would be no point in Arsenal spending that amount of money on a young center back to bring into our team. We need to be spending that sort of money on an EXPERIENCED center back to help bring through talent. United will be incorperating him into a squad with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, we need to be signing a Vidic or a Ferdinand, not a Jones.

 Did you know that Miquel is a Barcelona reject?

He's soft as shite and will never make in the PL never mind Arsenal, but with Turnip at the helm, who knows.

Barca Reject? If you believe what the press writes in relation to us trying to sign Jones i think you'll find that it was reported at the time that "Arsenal had faced competition from Manchester United and Celtic, while a host of Spanish clubs have been linked to Miquel, including Villarreal and Valencia.." He is 6ft 4 and is establishing himself as a key player in Spains u19's with rave reviews, for you to state that he will never make it in the premier league is laughable

Miquel is shite, I dont know why so many rate him. The only game I can remember him playing was when we fucked up against Leyton Orient.... :x

Captaining the reserves, la di da. I'm sure Randall and other rubbish have been reserve captain.

I rate Bartely as most know, but knowing Turnip he wont be given a chance. Youth Cup winning Captain, that matters.... 8)

Give it a minute, read what i am writing.

I would rather spend the money from a transfer for Phil Jones on a player in the mould of Vidic or Ferdinand.

I can tell you right now he'll never make it in the PL. Feel free to quote me on it.

We faced competition from Europe's elite for Nordtveit as well (apparently), we all know how that one turned out.

This I agree with you on.

But the talk about Miquel etc being justification for not signing someone like Phil Jones is just embarrassing.

How the hell can we spend 16M on a 19y/o 5'11'' kid with the CBs we have, we dont have a vidic or a rio to pair him with, so imo this transfer really has nothing to do with us.

henderson and Jones show ambition? please tell me you're joking.

Squillaci is sh1t end of, he is experienced and sh1t, that means we should buy a rookie midget englishmen?

We need worry less what utd and liverpool are doing and look exactly what this team needs, and the type of defender we need is tall, dominant and preferably expierenced to pair up with Vermalen.

Im not using Miquel, or Bartley as JUSTIFICATION for not signing Jones, what i am saying is that there would be no point in signing Jones because we dont have 2 world class center backs for him to learn from, we dont even have 2 experienced center backs for him to learn from. We need to be signing players of the quality of Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry, Kompany. Then when we do have 2 world class center backs, then think about spending crazy money on a 19 year old
