Phil Jones off to...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We dont need players that are going to "light up the league" we need proper professionals that want nothing else then to keep the pig sack as far away from our net as possible.
Swear if manure bought Oxlade Chamberlain everyone on here would be going 'planning for the future' 'saw him against united, better than walcott', but there's a thread on here saying how 16 mill is a MAD price for a very probable future england winger...
Its a ridiculous price for Arsenal to pay. Every penny of our transfer budget should be aimed at buying PL-experienced quality. Man yoo have a core squad of experienced winners so they can afford to use their transfer budget for such purposes.

I disagree mate. By light up the league, I wasn't referring to skill, flaire etc but Vermaelen, Adams, Vidic, Keown all lit up the league but are, and were absolute commanding brute winners.

This 19 year old being scouted on here as our apparent saviour going to them is bollox. Good player, yes, worth that money, no, and what we need, possibly, but how many had proper thought of him once as the man we needed in Feb/March time. Bet noone. And I much prefer the idea of buying 1 proper ready proven centre back ala Jagielka, Samba or Cahill. Lets be honest, if we'd bought him everyone would be going mad that he's 19, and a bit shit! I think we'll get one of those 3.

I've wanted him to be fair, watched him against Chelsea last year and was impressed at how he handled them, followed him since and he's been impressive every time, better to spend that money on him, in 5 years time he would not even be in his peak and he has the quality even at his young age, instead people are looking at someone bombed out by Villa for equal money as the saviour who has a year left on his contract and in truth is not much better.

Seriously mate? Are you actually serious? Theres so many examples of players being let go by clubs and then going on and being top draw.

I can't actually believe you've said that.

Yes I am serious, Cahill wasn't good enough for Villa, has done well for Bolton but then so has Zat Knight, while him coming would be a big improvement he is getting talked about like the messiah, he's been around long enough and could seriously be a fish out of water, with Jones he has it in him to improve, he's young enough and looks good now, how much better can Cahill get if we find out he's not up to it?

Paying 17m for a player with one year left on a contract has to be a success straight away.

Phil Jones on turning Arsenal and Liverpool down: "If I wanted my career to continue with no trophies I'd just stay at Blackburn."

Deal hit a snag according to ESPN. Blackburn now want 25mill. Don't really understand how though, surely bid has already been accepted?
