Nasri Contract situation

Now this really is a shame. He is one of our best players and just goes to show that they have all had enough.

He has been at the club 3 seasons and had one good half season.Look at his form from january onwards.

Stop staring at stats and look at how consistent he has been for 3 years and gave the team a brilliant outlet! Hope he stays, don't think he's doing an Adebarndoor, just feel he's massively disillusioned by us in the window as every single decent player is. C'esc does the same behind closed doors (and in the open as well lets not forget), but Nas has the fire to be so frustrated (like us) that he airs it. Probably shouldn't do it in the open as much as he does, but I suppose that's why he's so good and plays with fire, so wouldn't change it. He'll sign I reckon and hope it also wakes up Arsene to make some signings!!! NANANANANANANA...

Nobody has knocked the reasons for him being disillusioned mate but doesnt the fact that he would be willing to ignore that if he gets top dollar undermine his status ? I know I have said this 100 times but he has not done anywhere near enough to earn parity with cesc in the wages stakes - nobody doubts his quality and you may well pick out individual games where he shone but it is the total lack of consistancy that has infuriated so many. His habit of hiding in away games was well known coming into this season and although he had an excellent season pre christmas there can be no doubting the fact that he went totally awol ever since. That for me is a huge difference between a good player and a great player........it is easy to shine when everything is going well with the team and results but the really great players stand up and be counted when their team needs them and nasri cannot say that

Nasri.......consistent? The only consistent thing about Nas is his inconsistency!! Brilliant one minute, not in the game the next. After Christmas this year he was one of our most ineffective players. At least with the likes of Barry B etc we know he's not good enough anyway, but Nas IS good enough but he is often not in the game.

Nasri has not been consistent like TeeCee says. He had a 4-5 month period of great performances, what he always hinted he was capable of. Before he had moments in games but not heavily involved, he dissapeared in away games, and since the new year this has been the case also.

He is a quality player who im sure we all want to stay because like Cesc his best days are ahead of him. No big club should be selling players before their prime.

Ronaldo was an exception because 80M is an incredible fee, we could lose Cesc and Nasri for relative peanuts!!!

I think people forget Nasri is only 23. His first season was very much a settling in period where he provided glimpses of magic like his double v United at home.

Second season he managed to establish himself as an important player, and his third he started to really find form and show us what he's capable of. Reminds me a bit of a certain Bobby Pires.

Granted Nasri's form dropped off towards the end of the season but then again it coincided with a drop in form of the entire team, not just Nasri. Even when he wasn't playing great this year he was still one of our most creative and consistent players and some of the goals he scored this season have been sublime.

He's one of the only midfielders we have who will chip in with double figures every season and that's crucial if you want to be fighting for titles.

Nasri still has his best years ahead of him and to lose him now just when he's beginning to come into his own would be gutting IMO.

I understand that there's a fine line with wages and if you grant Nasri an extra 20k, who's to say other players wont want the same? But at the same time, it'd be typical of Wenger to lose one of our best midfielders, probably second only to cesc, for the sake of an extra 20k which could easily be offset against getting a Denilson or a Bendtner off the payroll.

....and I'm still waiting - 19 pages into this thread - for the "let him go" posters to give me a solution to who will replace him when he goes and that will actually improve the side

Young was definitely the one that we should have moved for, but nope the gormless GIC wouldn't back a logical move like signing an established PL player available at around 16m.

So come on guys - given that Nasri is supposedly an inconsistent, waste of space that you're happy to let go...who is the replacement ?

Oxlade-Chamberlain (who will probably take at least 3 years to get going)

And you really believe that Arsenal would sign him when he costs over 20m and every other top club in Europe have been after him for 2 years or more. That's like saying Ronaldo or Messi could replace him.

I'd say Hazard is slightly more realistic as no other european club seems to have made a move for him. And apparently we have already enquired. If wenger bid 16m+ (albeit too late) for Jones, then he's clearly ready to spend (finally). Who knows, maybe a deal is already in place? The window doesn't open until 1st July so we'll have to wait and see.

As for Goetze, probably around Â£15m.

I agree though, I live in false hope probably but we can dream right?

I said it earlier in the year I don't think Fabregas will go this summer. He's worth at least 50 million and the only team he will go to is the team not willing to match his valuation. He knows he's young enough. Plus last year he was away with all his mates and clearly it turned his head. I get the feeling he feels he owes us something.

With Nasri, it seems Wenger now sees that a deal has to be done. He obviously has been pretty shocked about how Nasri has probably behaved, and maybe he realises he's fucked up a bit on his own part. I hope it just gets sorted one way or another as its getting bloody tiresome.
