Now that the chavs have finally appointed a new manager my guess is that they wont be idle in the transfer market for much longer
The thing about us all worrying about a lack of transfers so early in the summer is because this is path we have been down in every transfer window for the past 4 seasons at least. At a different club with a different manager the fans would be calmer and more relaxed but cos we know that neither wenger nor the board like spending money at any point.
Again, in my opinion, for a team needing no small amount of surgery (as gazidas also suggested to ast) it was/is vital that we get moving early to ward off any competition from our rivals

What's that got to do with it? Your original post was bemoaning us not signing Cahill and Samba despite being linked with them "since the end of the season" as you put it. My point is how do you even know if those are the players that Wenger wants to sign? For all we know it could all be tabloid speculation and that we were never in for them so it would be a bit stupid expecting those transfers to come through if we weren't even in for them in the first place...RoscommonGooner wrote:Ever occur to you that we need to strengten our team and should try and sign better players than we have as quickly as possible before other clubs get in there?MM99 wrote:Ever occur to you that the club might not actually be looking to sign those players depiste what the tabloids/people forums say?RoscommonGooner wrote:Am I correct in saying that we cannot sign any continental based players until July 1? If so, then fair enough. But what is really getting on my nerves is the fact that we have been linked with Cahill and Samba since the end of the season and there is still no sign of a deal being done
June 31st???greengooner wrote:its like the arseblogger said in todays blog, a lot of player contracts end on june 31st and clubs accounting year ends on the same date, so this is going to delay a lot of transfers
Calm down. I'd imagine players on holiday might be part of the problem. The only 2 big transfers were about to go to the U-21.
Looks like he's lining up replacements for those who are going to leave. 2 centre backs, and a winger.

Fair point. I don't know this. I wasn't really clear in the initial post but I was using those 2 as this years example even though I don't know for a fact that we are "chasing" them. What I was alludeing to was the fact that our signings seem (in my eyes) signed after a long drawn out process. Now, perhaps this is because I don't watch the others as closely but The Arsenal seem (again, in my opinion) to take longer to sign a player that other clubs, take the Arshavin deal for example.MM99 wrote:What's that got to do with it? I'm just hoping...no praying with everyone telling him what to do, from Brady to Theo and even Nasri surely he's got to wake up!?!

You mean Henderson, don't you?Robsy wrote:Things will start to happen after July 1st.
Hopefully, Bendtner will go first and then an steady flow in and out.
This is a very boring summer of signings so far!
The only fun was watching Liverpool see how average Phil jones is, after they'd paid top-dollar!
